On February 18, a delegation from the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam, led by Ambassador Yaron Mayer, held a meeting with leaders of Phu Tho province. Mr. Phan Trong Tan, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, welcomed and worked with the delegation.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Trong Tan worked with the delegation of the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam led by Ambassador Yaron Mayer.
During the meeting, Phu Tho province provided an overview of its potential, strengths, and socio-economic development. The province is known as the ancestral land and the cradle of the Vietnamese people, home to two UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritages. With its strategic location, Phu Tho has favorable conditions for economic growth and trade with both domestic and international markets.
Both sides highlighted progress in bilateral relations, particularly following the visit of a senior delegation from Phu Tho to Israel in August 2019. Phu Tho province has collaborated with Israel in education, facilitating exchanges of lecturers and interns between Hung Vuong University and Israeli institutions. Since 2013, nearly 200 students from the university have interned in Israel, gaining valuable experience in modern agriculture. Some alumni have successfully launched high-tech agricultural businesses, while others have become agricultural experts working in developed European countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Phan Trong Tan noted that Israel is a young nation with deep historical roots, while Phu Tho is the homeland of the Vietnamese people. He proposed that the Israeli ambassador facilitate the establishment of a partnership between Phu Tho and a locality in Israel to expand bilateral relations and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation. He also urged support for scholarships for students, training professionals in applying science and technology to agriculture, and continuing the internship program in Israel for students of Hung Vuong University. He expressed hope that Israel would share its experience in start-ups, provide investment capital, and apply information technology to enhance production control and product quality. Additionally, he suggested cooperation in high-tech agriculture, investment in tea processing factories and advanced livestock farming, and the transfer of water-saving irrigation technology. He also called for support in finding export markets for Phu Tho’s key products in Israel, collaboration in waste treatment, and the provision of medical equipment, vaccines, and specialized medicines to improve healthcare and environmental protection.
Expressing gratitude for Phu Tho’s warm welcome, Ambassador Yaron Mayer recognized the province’s potential and expressed his desire to foster cooperation in various fields. The ambassador expressed his willingness to serve as a bridge to connect Phu Tho with Israeli enterprises, particularly in high-tech agriculture. He also wished to expand cooperation in training high-quality human resources. Additionally, he hoped that both sides would deepen collaboration to enhance healthcare services for the people of Phu Tho and effectively address environmental challenges in a sustainable manner. Ambassador Yaron Mayer reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to fostering practical and effective cooperation with Phu Tho, creating opportunities for mutual growth and shared benefits.
As part of the visit, the Israeli delegation met with representatives of Hung Vuong University to discuss the implementation of the agricultural internship program in Israel and explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in other fields: Discussions covered the implementation of the agricultural internship program in Israel and the potential to expand it to other fields. The two sides also explored opportunities for lecturer and expert exchanges in agriculture, economics, and educational sciences; scholarships for students and trainees to study and conduct research in Israel; and training programs for professionals in applying science and technology to agricultural production.
Plan to implement the agricultural internship program in Israel and opportunities to expand to many other fields; exchange of lecturers and experts in the fields of agriculture, economics, and educational sciences; scholarships for students and trainees to study and research in Israel; training of professional staff in the application of science and technology in agricultural production.
