On December 4, the People’s Committee of Doan Hung District coordinated with Hung Vuong University to organize a workshop: Restoring and promoting the value of the Lo River Victory Monument in Doan Hung District.
Delegates attending the workshop.
Attending the workshop were Major General Doan Xuan Bo, editor-in-chief of the Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper, and Major General, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nang, former director of the Vietnam Military History Museum. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Department of Education and Training; Hung Temple Historical Site; Hung Vuong University; Provincial Tourism Association; representatives of Military Region 2 and military units in the area; leaders of Doan Hung District.
Mr. Nguyen Van Van, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Doan Hung District, delivered a welcome speech at the workshop.
Doan Hung is a midland mountainous district located at the northern gateway of Phu Tho Province, bordering Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang Provinces. The district has vital waterway routes running through it, connecting the capital, Hanoi, with the northern border provinces, forming two important waterways in the military, and developing economic, cultural, and social exchanges with districts and provinces in the Northwest and North Central regions. With that strategic position in history, Doan Hung was a fence protecting the revolutionary capital, the resistance capital, and, at the same time, a solid rear base of the Viet Bac resistance base, of major campaigns such as the Autumn-Winter Campaign and the Northwest Campaign.
Over view of Conference.
At the conference, delegates heard the following contents: Lo River Victory Relic - a highlight of the Viet Bac Autumn-Winter 1947 Campaign Relic; Exploiting the Lo River Victory Relic in tourism development, teaching national history, and local education programs; Preserving and promoting the value of the Lo River Victory Monument, Doan Hung Town, Doan Hung District; Lo River Victory—importance and historical value; Lo River Victory - Unique Military Art Connecting the Lo River Victory Relic with the Northern Midlands and Mountains tourism route.
At the same time, present viewpoints on the importance, historical value, and great significance of the Lo River Victory in the nation’s resistance war against the French and for the current cause of defending the Fatherland; propose investment solutions, embellish the national historical relic—the Lo River Victory Monument—and renovate and upgrade Lo River Victory Road to create a landscape worthy of its value towards the 80th anniversary of the historic Lo River Victory (October 24, 1947 * October 24, 2027).
Through the workshop, continue to affirm the position, role, and historical significance of the Lo River Victory in the flow of national history, honoring the heroic feats of the Vietnam People’s Army on the homeland of Doan Hung. Propose solutions to exploit and use the Lo River Victory Monument in teaching history and in implementing local educational activities and experiences of schools. At the same time, build the Lo River Victory Monument into a provincial-level tourist destination.
