Over the past years, Phu Tho has implemented numerous solutions to invest in and finalize its transport infrastructure. The focus on a synchronous and modern network has created a powerful catalyst for socio-economic development, enhancing competitiveness and attracting investment into the province.
The province currently has over 30,700 km of roads, 678 km of inland waterways, and nearly 113 km of railways with 13 stations on the Hanoi - Lao Cai line. Recognizing that transportation infrastructure plays a crucial role as a “lifeline” in socio-economic development, the province pays special attention to planning and investing in transportation infrastructure, creating connections with Hanoi, the Northwest region, and the North Central region.
By 2025, the province had implemented and completed inter-regional transportation projects such as: the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh Highway with National Highway 70B and National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (formerly); The projects include connecting the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway; a parallel road to the Hanoi - Lao Cai railway; the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway; the Hoa Binh - Hanoi regional link road; and the Son La (Hoa Binh - Moc Chau) expressway...

The Ho Chi Minh Highway section connecting to the Tuyen Quang – Phu Tho Expressway is being accelerated to ensure progress.
Alongside key projects, the province is focusing on upgrading existing infrastructure. In 2025, over 37 km of national highways and 31 km of provincial roads were renovated, while nearly 400 km of national highways were taken over for management and maintenance. Localities have been directed to resolutely carry out site clearance and increase the rate of concrete-paved rural roads.
At the grassroots level, communes and wards have mobilized resources to upgrade rural roads and internal urban streets, bridges, and culverts. This process emphasizes planning, site clearance, and quality supervision to improve regional connectivity and serve the people’s transport needs.
Dong Thanh Commune stands out as a success story in infrastructure breakthroughs. By ensuring 100% site clearance for the Phu Tho – Tuyen Quang Expressway and local rural roads, the commune has significantly boosted its economy. According to Mr. Ha Truong Son, Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, Dong Thanh commune surpassed its 2025 targets with a total state budget revenue of 95 billion VND. The commune attracted 60 enterprises, creating jobs for local laborers, raising the average income to over 56 million VND, and reducing the poverty rate to 2.94%.
In the coming time, the commune will continue to focus on organizing the synchronous planning of rural and inter-field transportation infrastructure systems associated with the development of trade, services, industry, and small-scale handicrafts to promote socio-economic development and increase income for local people.
The implemented and completed transportation infrastructure projects have affirmed political determination, brought direct benefits to the people, and made an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province. In 2025, the province’s economy is expected to grow significantly, with an estimated annual increase of 10.52% compared to 2024; the economic structure will continue to shift towards increasing the proportion of industry and services. In particular, the proactive development of transportation infrastructure has paved the way for attracting investment, with a total capital of... FDI reached US$1.2 billion, a 38.5% increase compared to the previous year; domestic investment is estimated at nearly VND 220 trillion, 3.3 times higher than in 2024...
For 2026, the province will continue to accelerate key projects such as the CT03 Expressway (Hoa Lac – Moc Chau), the Viet Tri – Hoa Binh Expressway, and the IC2 and IC5 interchanges on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway. Other priorities include the completion of parallel roads along the Hanoi – Lao Cai railway (from Vinh Yen to Hac Tri Bridge) and new bridges across the Lo, Hong, and Da Rivers. Furthermore, the province will coordinate to complete the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong high-speed railway and other vital intra-regional connections.
Localities are encouraged to continue mobilizing capital effectively, promoting the “land donation” movement among citizens, and focusing on the long-term maintenance of transport works to ensure they remain effective for years to come.
