Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions to promote labor export, such as strengthening propaganda, assigning plans and targets to communes and towns, mobilizing illegal workers to return home on time... has opened up new prospects for labor export in Cam Khe district towards sustainable poverty reduction.
Thanks to having 2 children working abroad, the family economy of Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc in Huong Chan 1 area, Huong Lung commune, is better off than before.
In recent years, Cam Khe has always been considered one of the localities in the province that has done a good job of propagating about labor exports to the people. Mr. Nguyen Huu Mung, Head of the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Cam Khe District, said: We identify labor export as a suitable direction for the central land like Cam Khe, actively contributing to solving employment, increasing income, and legitimately enriching the people. In propaganda work, the district pays much attention to poor and near-poor households in order to promptly disseminate policies and labor export programs, create conditions for them to borrow preferential loans, find suitable job markets, and contribute to poverty reduction. Therefore, the number of people going to work abroad every year always exceeds the set target. In the first 7 months of 2024 alone, the whole district had 125 people going to work abroad, reaching over 83% of the annual plan.
We went to Huong Lung commune - the locality with the largest number of people going to work abroad in the first 7 months of 2024 - with 21 people. Comrade Vu Manh Cuong, Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, said that the commune has up to 70% Catholics. The whole commune currently has nearly 100 people working abroad for a limited period. The market that workers mainly choose is Taiwan (China). For the Japanese and Korean markets, people mainly follow the path of studying abroad. Many workers after working abroad have saved up capital to send back to their families. Therefore, many families in the commune who were previously poor have escaped poverty thanks to overseas labor exports. Thanks to that, the poverty rate in the locality has decreased to about 5.1%.
Once a poor household, 10 years ago, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc and his wife in Huong Chan 1 area, Huong Lung commune, decided to borrow money for their eldest son to go to work in Taiwan (China). Thanks to their son finding a stable construction job, bringing in a good income in a foreign land, he sent money back to help the family renovate the mixed garden to grow fruit trees, develop livestock, build spacious houses, and escape poverty. In 2023, Mr. Phuc’s second son also followed him to Taiwan (China) to realize his dream of changing his life.
Cam Khe district creates conditions for enterprises with the function of labor export to advise students and workers in the area about potential markets at the job exchange floor.
The work of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time has been actively implemented by Cam Khe district, considering this a goal to contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the district. Following that orientation, in 2023, the district organized a job exchange floor attracting more than 300 grade 12 students from high schools: Cam Khe, Hien Da, Phuong Xa, and the district’s Center for Continuing Education and Vocational Training, along with 500 rural workers in communes and towns in the district.
Students and workers were consulted and recruited by 16 units and enterprises to go abroad and find jobs after graduation with a good income. Along with that, the district has directed the communes to actively promote propaganda and mobilization work so that workers are aware of the meaning of labor export; Actively support workers in carrying out bank loan procedures; and strengthen State management of enterprises operating in the field of labor export to ensure efficiency, strictness, and compliance with regulations.
Based on legal documents and the capacity of enterprises, the district selects and introduces reputable labor recruitment enterprises and requires enterprises to properly fulfill their obligations in recruitment.
To complete the 2024 goal of Cam Khe district sending at least 150 people to work abroad for a limited period, along with promoting propaganda work, localities will increase contact, cooperation, encourage, and create favorable conditions for enterprises with labor export functions to directly recruit workers.
Diversify the labor export market and replicate the direct linkage model between enterprises and the People’s Committees of communes and towns to select skilled workers, meeting the needs of foreign business partners. The district will also promote vocational training consultancy in the form of both studying and working to go to work abroad in the markets of Japan, Taiwan (China), and some European countries.
