After 5 years of implementing the One Commune One Product Program (OCOP Program), Phu Tho currently has 237 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher, 160 entities and 126 communes, wards and towns with OCOP products. Many localities have provided effective support, creating favorable opportunities for OCOP entities to improve product quality and expand consumption markets...
Beginning in 2019, the OCOP Program has created a strong spillover throughout the political system from the province to the grassroots. The awareness of officials and people about the meaning and importance of developing OCOP products has been raised significantly through the number of products recognized to meet OCOP standards to gradually increase over the years (2020: 28 products; 2021: 50 products; 2022: 61 products; 2023: 109 products).
The program has actively contributed to economic restructuring in rural areas and successfully implemented the plan to restructure the agricultural sector and the National Target Program to build new rural areas; creating high quality products, linking along the value chain associated with product consumption, meeting the market demand, creating many jobs, and increasing people’s income...
By the end of 2023, the whole province has 237 products certified with OCOP stars. Of these, 85% of OCOP-certified products belong to the food industry. Some products have become “branded” associated with places such as: Hoai Trung premium tea (Thanh Ba); Hung Lo rice noodles, J02 Japanese rice variety (Viet Tri city); Bang Luan grapefruit, Chi Dam grapefruit (Doan Hung); Da Hen Premium tea (Cam Khe); Ga Gay My Lung sticky rice (Yen Lap); Gia Thanh seedless persimmons (Phu Ninh)...
Clearly identify the difficulties and challenges from practice over time, so that the OCOP Program is implemented in a practical and effective manner, adapting to the requirements of the commodity economy, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has synchronously implemented many solutions such as: Actively propagandizing people and management staff to understand the purpose and meaning of the OCOP Program and clearly understand the responsibilities of units and individuals in implementing the OCOP Program; Promote training and capacity building for participating entities; Organize surveys, assessments and consultations for product upgraders to register their participation in the OCOP program... and especially promote trade promotion, introduction, search and diversification of the distribution and consumption market of local OCOP products.
In 2023, Phu Tho will begin evaluating and classifying OCOP products according to Decision No. 148/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on promulgating a set of criteria and procedures for evaluating and classifying the OCOP products. This new set of criteria and procedures for evaluation and classification has directed OCOP into depth, enhanced the role of commune and district levels in program implementation, and assigned the authority to evaluate and classify OCOP products reaching 3 stars at the district level; created motivation for OCOP entities to develop and perfect products after being evaluated and ranked, striving to have the products rated at a higher star...
Mr. Vu Quoc Tuan - Director of the Provincial Department of Rural Development said: “In the 2021-2025 period, OCOP Program will expand a number of new product groups such as ornamental creatures, ornamental animals, and concretize rural tourist destinations...
