Recently, the One Commune One Product Program (OCOP) implemented in the province has had a positive impact on rural economic development, contributing to the transition from small-scale agricultural production to mass production direction of value chain linkage, according to standards and regulations, with traceability, and according to market demand, creating a new, modern and more effective direction in the production and trading of traditional products, forming unique.This is an essential component of long-term rural economic growth.
Maika Food Co., Ltd. is producing Polyscias fruticosa tea bags utilizing current technology and satisfying 4-star OCOP requirements in area 3, Xuan Loc commune, Thanh Thuy district.
Localities have developed, promulgated, and implemented plans under the Provincial People’s Committee’s Implementing Plan No. 4265/KH-UBND dated September 22, 2021, for the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in Phu Tho province from 2021 to 2025. Many localities have planned specialty raw material areas, developed rural industries, particularly preserving and developing traditional craft villages; and formed a “multi-value” integrated OCOP product, both arousing the potential of land, products, and comparative advantages, while also conveying regional and regional humanistic products, creating a link between development agriculture, services, and tourism.
Between 2021 and 2023, the province will have an additional 220 items and product categories certified as meeting OCOP requirements. By the end of 2023, there will be 237 OCOP items rated 3 stars or above, including one rated 5 stars, 54 rated 4 stars, and 182 rated 3 stars. The Program involves 172 subjects, including 57 families, 90 cooperatives/THTs, and 25 companies. The province has requested that the Central Council evaluate and classify two OCOP products with the potential to achieve 5-star status in 2023: Thanh Ba purple bud tea from UT Tea Investment and Development Company Limited, Van Linh commune, Thanh Ba district, and clean rice noodles from Hung Lo village of Hung Lo Rice Noodles Cooperative, Hung Lo commune, Viet Tri city.
OCOP goods adhere to food safety and quality norms and laws; they have different designs and packaging, are ecologically friendly, and satisfy market requirements. From there, it leads to increased value, assisting companies in expanding production scale and income. Specifically, 55% of OCOP organizations expanded production scale or product output after being recognized, average sales revenue grew by 29%, and a fraction of OCOP items raised selling prices. Following recognition by 50.53%, the average price rise was 15.7%.
The value of output from OCOP goods alone in 2023 will exceed 1,305 billion VND. Some entities with high increases in revenue include: Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative, revenue increased by 35%; Truong Foods Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, revenue increased by 30%; Thanh Son Sour Meat Cooperative, revenue increased by 25%; Cooperative Long Coc safe tea production increased revenue by 15%; Hoai Trung Tea Company Limited, revenue increased by 20%... contributing to the creation of stable jobs for thousands of workers with an average income of 4.5.
In addition to providing additional opportunities for rural people, the OCOP program helps to promote livelihood development in challenging locations and among disadvantaged populations like as ethnic minorities and women. Currently, 30% of OCOP subjects are female, with 14% being ethnic minorities. In addition, the Program assists subjects in proactively developing the market, expanding distribution channels, and participating in current sales channels. More than 150 firms, 300 manufacturing booths, and business homes in the province have registered to supply OCOP goods on the e-commerce trade floor.
To produce efficient OCOP goods to boost rural economic development while also promoting propaganda, agencies, units, and local governments must continue to cooperate, integrate, and mobilize key resources. Prioritize assistance for the development of major and common items in the Program. Simultaneously, increase training, nurturing, and training in professional understanding of OCOP Program and product management; production and business management knowledge for topics. Conduct a yearly review and ranking of OCOP goods.
