On March 26, the Tro temple festival in Hung Viet commune, Cam Khe district took place in a joyful and bustling atmosphere with many unique cultural activities to commemorate and pay tribute to the ancestors who had contributed to building the country.
At exactly 7 o’clock, when the drums sounded, the palanquin procession consisting of seniors, students and a large number of local people started departing from Tro temple, heading out the village gate to offer incense at Tro communal house that is about 1km apart.
Tro Temple belongs to Tro village, Cat Tru commune (now Hung Viet commune). Based on the legend of Thach De commune, Dieu Luong canton, compiled by the great scholar Nguyen Binh in the year of Hong Phuc (1572), Nguyen Hien copy back to the Vinh Huu period and the declaration of the chief of Cat Tru commune, Dieu Luong canon in 1942, Tro temple worships 3 gods: Ngu Long, Chinh Phai and Doan Luong (sons of the fifth Hung King, credited with repelling the An invaders).
The legend says that Tro Temple has existed for a long time, but there are no documents left to determine the date of its construction. According to the elders in the village, the temple was previously built on the Song Thao dike; Around the time of King Tu Duc, due to floods, people moved the temple to the current location.
As a place to preserve great historical and cultural values of the nation, Tro Temple was recognized by the Provincial People’s Committee as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic in 2004.
This year’s Tro Temple Festival, in addition to the solemn ceremony with traditional rituals such as palanquin procession, divine genealogy reading, incense offering, and sacrifices, also includes a festival with folk games such as tug of war and air volleyball sports competition.
On this occasion, the leaders of the People’s Committee of Hung Viet commune held a ceremony to announce and award the Certificate of banh chung and banh giay making craft in Cam Khe district, Viet Tri city, Tam Nong district, which was included in the National intangible cultural heritage list to representatives of two local banh chung and banh giay making establishments, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh and Mr. Pham Van Hieu.
