Opening of the Hung Vuong Cup Volleyball Tournament for strong teams

On the evening of April 11, at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Volleyball Federation organized the opening ceremony of the 2024 Hung Vuong Cup Volleyball Tournament for strong teams.

This year’s Hung Vuong Cup Volleyball Tournament for Strong Teams takes place from April 11 - 14 with the participation of the 8 best men’s and women’s volleyball teams (ranked from 1 to 4) in the 2023 National Championship. Among them, 4 participating female teams include: Ninh Binh LP Bank, Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemical, VTV Binh Dien Long An and the Information Corp - Tuoi Binh Phuoc School. The 4 men’s football teams are Sanest Khanh Hoa, Border Guard, Ha Tinh and The Cong Tan Cang.

Teams compete in a knockout semi-final format, to select two men’s teams and two women’s teams to enter the finals to find the Champion in both contents. Meanwhile, the losing teams in the semi-finals will compete for the third place.

This is an official tournament within the professional competition system of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and has been held annually since 2004 in Phu Tho Province on the occasion of the annual Hung Kings’ Temple Festival. One of the new features at this year’s Hung Vuong Cup is that the Organizing Committee applies Video Challenge Eyes technology with 19 camera eyes in all matches and in many different positions to to support the referee’s management, ensuring fairness for matches.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the men’s semi-final match between Sanest Khanh Hoa and Ha Tinh took place. With superior force, Sanest Khanh Hoa defeated Ha Tinh with a score of 3-0. Previously in the early match, Ninh Binh LP Bank women’s team with the excellence of Bich Tuyen won 3-0 against the Information Corp - Tuoi Binh Phuoc School to become the first team to enter their name in the Final of Hung Vuong Cup in 2024.
