As part of the cultural series serving the 2026 Hung Kings Commemoration - Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week, from April 22 to 27 (the 6th to the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month), the Public House area within the Hung Temple Historic Site is hosting performances of bronze drum beating and “dam duong” for pilgrims and tourists.
The bronze drum is a sacred symbol, intimately linked with the ancestral worship beliefs of ancient Vietnamese people. The act of beating bronze drums carries not only deep spiritual significance - praying for favorable weather, national peace, and bumper harvests - but also reflects the rich cultural life of residents during the Hung Kings era. According to tradition, this was a common ritual during festivals and ceremonies during the nation-building period.
Alongside this, “dam duong” - a signature folk cultural feature of the Muong ethnic group - vividly recreates the life of wet rice agricultural production. Over time, “dam duong” (rhythmic rice pounding) has evolved into a unique folk art form with distinct tempos and echoes, preserved and passed down through generations.

Performance of “dam duong” at the Public House (Hung Temple Historic Site)
Every year, on the occasion of the Hung Kings Commemoration, the Hung Temple Historic Site coordinates with Hung Vuong University to organize these performances to promote the unique cultural values of the Ancestral Land. A highlight of the program is that visitors can not only enjoy the performance but also directly participate in the experience, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the spiritual and cultural life of the Hung Kings era inhabitants.
These activities contribute significantly to preserving and honoring the cultural identity of the Hung Kings period, while spreading the values of the Worship of Hung Kings - a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
This remains an attractive highlight, drawing large numbers of visitors from all directions during the 2026 Hung Kings Commemoration - Hung Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week.
