Phu Tho Province Hosts Investment Promotion Conference in Madrid, Expanding Alliances with Spanish Enterprises

On June 3, in the capital city of Madrid (Kingdom of Spain), under the chairmanship of Mr. Bui Huy Vinh—Deputy Secretary of the Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee, the Investment Promotion and Field Research Delegation of Phu Tho Province, in coordination with the Embassy of Vietnam in Spain, solemnly organized the Phu Tho Province Investment Promotion Conference.

Attending the summit were senior dignitaries: Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu (Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor of the Provincial People’s Committee); Mr. Doan Thanh Song (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Spain); alongside heads of provincial departments, sectors, officials from the Vietnamese Embassy, representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Business, and a vast gathering of Spanish corporations and institutional investors.

Opening the conference, Deputy Secretary Bui Huy Vinh highly valued the Vietnamese Embassy’s active partnership in facilitating the event. He underscored that this served as a milestone window to pitch Phu Tho’s immense potentials, optimized investment climate, and strategic roadmaps to the Spanish corporate community.

Following the historic macro-administrative consolidation of three provinces—Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh—the freshly expanded Phu Tho Province commands an aggregate land reserve of over 9,300 square kilometers and a population breaking past 4 million people. This colossal administrative framework carves out an expansive economic development space packed with deep potentials for manufacturing, cross-border logistics, tourism, and high-tech agribusiness.

In 2025, the province’s macroeconomic growth velocity clocked a roaring 10.52%, ranking 4th nationwide. Crucially, according to the official 2025 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) data, Phu Tho secured its position within the Top 5 jurisdictions nationwide for outstanding economic governance. The province ranked 2nd nationally in resource accessibility, 5th in developmental governance, and stood firmly within the Top 10 for business support policies.

During the 2021–2025 phase, aggregate Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attracted into the province touched nearly 6 billion USD. Global manufacturing giants such as Honda, Toyota, and Piaggio have historically anchored their production bases here. In tandem with these anchors, the province has engineered a robust supporting industrial ecosystem, featuring over 70 tier-1 satellite suppliers feeding into the global supply chains of top-tier technology conglomerates like Samsung, Dell, and Apple.

At the summit, the leadership of Phu Tho Province officially disclosed the priority fields earmarked for investment attraction during the 2026–2030 strategic cycle, which include: high-tech manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor architectures, Artificial Intelligence (AI), precision engineering, advanced materials, and renewable energy; the development of multi-modal logistics infrastructure and dedicated Free Trade Zones (FTZs); alongside luxury wellness resorts, professional sports tourism, and international-standard golf course developments.

Mr. Bui Huy Vinh re-affirmed that Phu Tho is aggressively committed to offering the most transparent, safe, and lucrative landscape for global capital, operating under the province’s iron executive motto: "Every investor arriving in Phu Tho is treated as an official citizen of Phu Tho; the corporate success of your enterprise is the definitive success of the province."

Welcoming the delegation, Ambassador Doan Thanh Song expressed his delight that Phu Tho selected Spain as a priority destination for its global investment promotion itinerary. The Ambassador analyzed that as Vietnam sharpens its institutional frameworks toward a modern, transparent, and globally integrated economy, Phu Tho is rapidly emerging as a high-potential investment magnet holding vital geoeconomic leverage.

Post-merger, Phu Tho functions not only as the definitive hub of the Northern Midland and Mountainous region but sits perfectly upon the arterial transport corridors linking Hanoi with the Northwest region, as well as the economic corridor stretching toward Southwest China. This fields an incomparable geostrategic leverage to scale up advanced logistics hubs and cargo distribution lines.

During the interactive panel debate, Mr. Mario Pita Da Veiga Verde—representing the Directorate for Europe, Asia, and the Pacific under the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Business—expressed heavy impressions regarding Phu Tho’s macroeconomic milestones. He revealed that Spanish multinationals are currently looking for windows in green manufacturing, clean tech, and sustainable developments.

Given that the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Business has already operationalized its official representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, the Spanish side will direct this unit to aggressively upscale its institutional matchmaking, introducing Phu Tho’s corporate opportunities to the Spanish business community in the upcoming phase.

Responding to these remarks, Vice Governor Nguyen Khac Hieu conveyed deep gratitude to the Spanish Ministry. He stressed that Vietnam is entering a roaring developmental era targeting consistent double-digit GDP growth, with state bodies focusing all public resources on upscaling the business environment to fulfill this mandate. He expressed his desire for the Spanish trade office in Ho Chi Minh City to operate as a vital bilateral bridge guiding Spanish firms into the province.

During the session, a multitude of Spanish enterprise leaders and venture capitalists expressed intent and placed deep inquiries regarding rail transport infrastructure, heavy logistics hubs, solid waste processing, and wastewater treatment technologies.

Closing the summit, Vice Governor Nguyen Khac Hieu affirmed that the candid feedback and proposals shared by Spanish organizations serve as vital baseline data for Phu Tho to continuously fine-tune its preferential FDI policies. He declared that Phu Tho is fully primed and ready to host incoming corporate delegations arriving for real-world field surveys and site location audits. The Madrid Summit has successfully projected Phu Tho’s brand equity onto the European market, paving the path to deepen the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Spain in this fresh economic era.
