Construction is progressing at full pace on several of Phu Tho’s key transport infrastructure projects, with contractors mobilising maximum manpower and equipment to accelerate completion. As major structures take shape, these strategic transport routes are expected to strengthen regional connectivity, expand urban development space and enhance the province’s attractiveness to investors.

One of the province’s flagship projects is the road running parallel to the Hanoi–Lao Cai Railway, stretching from Vinh Phuc Ward to the Hac Tri Bridge approach. The project consists of two construction packages with a total length of approximately 10.1 kilometres. It is expected to improve connections with the regional transport network, reduce traffic pressure on existing roads and create new opportunities for socio-economic development.

Under Package No. 1, covering the northern section from National Highway 2C to the Hop Thinh–Dao Tu Road, the starting point is located in Vinh Phuc Ward at the National Highway 2C overpass. Following an intensive construction period, the alignment of the new road has become clearly visible.

To date, approximately 90% of the asphalt pavement has been completed.

At the intersection with Provincial Road 305 (DT305), work to expand the junction has been largely completed, ensuring seamless integration when the entire route is opened to traffic.

Traffic signs have already been installed along several completed sections, while trees have been planted along both sides of the road and within the central median.

Construction is also progressing on Package No. 2, which covers both the northern and southern sections from the Hop Thinh–Dao Tu Road to the extended Provincial Road 304 (DT304). The approximately 8-kilometre section is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

Despite challenges caused by adverse weather and ongoing land clearance, the project investor, contractors and local authorities are working closely together to resolve outstanding issues and maintain the construction schedule.

Construction materials, precast concrete components and utility duct systems have already been delivered to the site and are ready for installation as soon as the remaining land becomes available.

Alongside the railway parallel road project, construction of the IC5 Interchange, which will connect to the Noi Bai–Lao Cai Expressway at Km31+340 in Tam Duong Commune, is also advancing rapidly.

The interchange includes the A1 main approach, which passes beneath the expressway through an existing underpass, together with four connecting ramps—A2, B, C and D—providing access to and from the expressway.

Several major components of the interchange have already achieved significant progress. Foundation piles and concrete works for the bridge piers supporting the approach roads have been completed, bringing the project closer to operation. Once completed, these key transport projects will create new opportunities for urban expansion, industrial development and service-sector growth, while providing strong momentum for Phu Tho’s socio-economic development in the years ahead.
