On April 12, at the Hoa Binh Ward Gymnasium, the Provincial Karate Federation officially kicked off the 2026 Phu Tho Province Karate K1 Open Championship.
The tournament, held from April 11 to 12, attracted more than 500 athletes and coaches from 36 units both within and outside the province. Athletes competed in Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring) categories, divided into various age groups across two main systems: Amateur and Advanced, with a total of 85 sets of medals up for grabs.

In recent years, the movement of practicing and competing in Karate in the province and the Northern region has grown robustly, drawing significant participation from children and teenagers. Many local athletes have achieved high rankings at provincial, national, and regional tournaments, enhancing the prestige of the province’s sports on the competitive stage.

Vibrant Kumite matches draw significant attention from the audience in Hoa Binh Ward.
Hosting this tournament provides the Organizing Committee with an opportunity to evaluate the quality of Karate training and coaching across various localities. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to select outstanding talents for the provincial team in preparation for upcoming national championships.
