Traditional Craft Villages in Phu Tho Embrace Digital Transformation
Amid the sweeping tide of the 4.0 Revolution, the traditional craft villages of Phu Tho Province are undergoing a remarkable transformation. From small-scale, manual production, many workshops and household businesses have boldly invested in modern machinery, harnessing the power of digital technology and social media to bring their hometown products to wider markets, preserving the craft while expanding both domestic and international reach.

The application of modern machinery and technology has helped the fine art wooden furniture products of Tuoi Thuan Woodcraft Workshop in Yen Lac Commune maintain a strong foothold in the market.
Today, Phu Tho is home to hundreds of traditional craft villages, ranging from woodworking, blacksmithing, and bamboo weaving to mechanics, textiles, and ornamental plant cultivation. Thousands of production facilities across the province provide stable employment for rural workers, contributing significantly to local economic development.
In recent years, Phu Tho Province has issued numerous policies to support and encourage households and enterprises to invest in modern equipment, adopt advanced technology in production, and promote trade through digital platforms. These efforts have breathed new life into the province’s craft villages.
In Yen Phuong Commune, the vibrant sounds of woodworking continue to echo through Lung Ha Village where generations of artisans have kept their craft alive and thriving. What sets today’s artisans apart is their spirit of innovation - the “craftsmen of the digital age.” They not only excel in their craftsmanship but are also quick to adapt to consumer trends and promote their products online.
Beyond woodworking, many other craft villages across the province are also “awakening” through technology. In Vinh Phu Commune, home to five traditional villages: Ban Mach blacksmithing, Van Giang carpentry, Van Ha, Thu Do, and Bich Chu - the bustling rhythm of production all day and night. Nearly 2.000 production facilities are providing stable jobs for more than 3.700 workers.
Technology is opening a new path for the development of Phu Tho’s craft villages. Through social media, customers from all regions can now view, order, and provide instant feedback on products.
Building on these achievements, Phu Tho Province plans to continue supporting craft villages in technological innovation and production expansion linked with experiential tourism and regional branding. In particular, training programs in e-commerce, digital marketing, product photography, and videography will be strengthened, helping local artisans easily access and apply these skills in practice. This will enable them to further expand their markets both domestically and internationally through the power of technology.
