Phu Tho identifies transport infrastructure as one of its strategic breakthroughs to stimulate socio-economic growth, expand developmental space, and enhance regional connectivity. With high determination from the entire political system, the province is focusing on accelerating key transport projects, especially inter-regional routes of strategic importance.
The Hoa Son Bridge on the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway is under urgent construction.
According to the planning orientation, the province’s transport network is being developed toward a synchronous, modern, and multi-modal system linked with key economic corridors, strengthening connections with Hanoi and neighboring localities. Currently, the province is implementing several major projects with total investment capital reaching tens of trillions of VND, step-by-step finalizing the infrastructure system to create a solid foundation for development.
A standout among these is the Inter-regional Road Project connecting the Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B and National Highway 32C to Lao Cai. With a total investment of over 2,100 billion VND, the project spans over 60 km across three routes. The 53.5 km main route, along with branch roads connecting industrial zones, plays a vital role in forming an inter-regional transport axis linking the midlands with the Northwest. To date, many sections were completed and commissioned between 2023 and 2024. For the remaining items, contractors are mobilizing maximum manpower and machinery, organizing “3 shifts, 4 crews” to ensure the schedule. The entire project is slated for completion and operation in June 2026.
At the construction site from the starting point (Km0) to National Highway 32 (Km76+150), the atmosphere is urgent with multiple construction fronts deployed simultaneously. Mr. Pham Anh Van, a technical officer from Tu Lap Co., Ltd., stated that the unit has mobilized over 30 workers and specialized equipment to focus on aggregate base courses, asphalt concrete paving, and auxiliary works under the spirit of “overcoming sun and rain, defying storms,” working 24/7. Currently, the package has basically finished the type 2 aggregate base layer and is proceeding with the type 1 layer and surface asphalt.
Simultaneously, the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway Project is being expedited, striving to finish ahead of schedule. This route holds special significance in connecting Hoa Binh with the Northwest, creating favorable links with Son La and Dien Bien provinces. Thus far, site clearance is nearly complete (reaching approximately 97%), providing a “clean” ground for construction units.
In addition, the province is striving to implement several inter-regional transport projects, including the rehabilitation and upgrading of National Highway 6 (Xuan Mai – Hoa Binh section) and the road parallel to the Hanoi – Lao Cai railway. To ensure the progress of these key projects, the province has been deploying a series of synchronous and effective solutions. Notably, there has been drastic leadership in site clearance from the provincial to the grassroots levels. Local authorities are proactively reviewing and finalizing compensation, support, and resettlement plans while strengthening advocacy to gain public consensus for timely land handover.
Furthermore, the province is focusing on promptly resolving difficulties and bottlenecks arising during project implementation. Coordination mechanisms between departments, local authorities, and investors have been strengthened to ensure the swift processing of procedures related to land, construction materials, funding, and construction management. Simultaneously, the province is accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital, identifying this as a key driver for project progress. Investors are required to develop detailed disbursement plans that closely follow construction milestones to avoid capital congestion at the end of the year.
Under the decisive direction of Party committees and authorities, combined with public support, the province’s transport system is being steadily perfected. These new routes not only extend the developmental space but also provide the momentum for sustainable growth, ensure national defense and security, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
