Van Phu Ward and Thuong Long Commune Win Special Prizes at the Banh Chung and Banh Giay Competition

On the afternoon of April 24 (the 8th day of the 3rd lunar month, Year of the Horse), at the Festival Center of the Hung Temple Historic Site, the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Hung Kings' Festival held the awards ceremony for the 1st Banh Chung Wrapping and Banh Giay Pounding Competition.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee – presents the Special Prizes to the two outstanding delegations.

Attending and presenting the awards was Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Provincial Agencies.

After a day of vibrant competition, the event attracted nearly 180 artisans selected from 18 clusters representing 148 communes and wards across the province. The artisans demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity, and enthusiasm, producing high-quality, delicious, and beautifully presented cakes to show their deep reverence for the Hung Kings.

In the final results, the Van Phu Ward delegation (Cluster 1) won the Special Prize for Banh Chung wrapping, while the Thuong Long Commune delegation (Cluster 6) claimed the Special Prize for Banh Giay pounding. The First Prize for Banh Chung wrapping was awarded to the Huong Can delegation, and the First Prize for Banh Giay pounding went to the Tam Nong delegation. The Organizing Committee also presented Second, Third, and Consolation prizes to other participating teams.

According to the regulations, the top-winning teams of the 2026 competition will be honored with the task of preparing the Banh Chung and Banh Giay offerings to be presented to the Hung Kings during the 2027 Hung Kings' Commemoration.

This competition is a deeply meaningful activity that highlights the Vietnamese tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source." Through this event, the Organizing Committee selects the finest products to offer to the Ancestors, preserving the cultural quintessence of the nation.
