Application of High Technology in Production

Recognizing that the application of high technology in agricultural production is an effective solution to enhance product value and increase income for people, on April 29, 2021, the Standing Committee of the Thanh Thuy District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/HU on the development of agriculture towards high-tech commodity production for the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030 (Resolution 09). Since then, many high-economic-efficiency commodity production models have emerged in the district.

With the motto of maximizing potential, advantages, and land resources, ensuring uniformity, and integrating agricultural development with tourism, services, and new rural construction, Thanh Thuy has implemented many policies and initiatives to gradually apply high technology in agricultural production, aiming for comprehensive, modern, sustainable, and highly competitive development.

At the same time, the district encourages OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities to participate in linkages, promote product consumption, and connect for consumption, display, and introduction of OCOP products at potential markets, combined with developing tours, tourist routes, and festival activities.

Currently, the district has developed several high-economic-efficiency models such as: linking biological beekeeping with a scale of 4,000 bee colonies by the Thanh Thuy Beekeeping Cooperative; and linking the breeding and consumption of organic pork at Dong Trung Commune, led by NTEA Organic Food Joint Stock Company, with a scale of 6,800 pigs/year.

The district administration has also launched models such as the production of ST25 rice with high-quality commodity orientation in communes like Dong Trung, Doan Ha, Tan Phuong, Xuan Loc, and Dao Xa; a high-quality Thuy Huong 308 rice model with over 108 hectares, produced according to VietGAP standards, and awarded a planting area code in communes like Tu Vu, Bao Yen, and Xuan Loc; and a date palm intensive cultivation model.

At the commune level, three models have been implemented: In Dong Trung Commune, two models have been developed—high-tech production of mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms oriented towards commercial goods, and the cultivation of cordyceps using processes that ensure food safety, serving the needs of tourism and services. In Xuan Loc Commune, a high-tech application model has been established for the production and processing of tea products.

Based on existing farms, the district administration has assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with commune and town administrations to review agricultural production projects and models, and farms to build integrated farms producing high-tech commodities along the value chain connected with experiential tourism in Dong Trung Commune.

The establishment and application of high technology in agricultural production and processing in Thanh Thuy have created positive effects, serving as a lever to develop agriculture and rural areas. Currently, the average product value per hectare of cultivated land and aquaculture in the district is 135 million VND/ha/year.
