Chairman of Phu Tho People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong Meets with Senior Executive from LG Energy Solution, South Korea

On the morning of August 1, Mr. Tran Duy Dong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Tho People’s Committee – hosted a meeting with Mr. Lee Jin Woo, Senior Executive Director of LG Energy Solution, South Korea. Also in attendance were leaders of provincial departments and agencies including Finance, Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, the Management Board of Industrial Parks, the Provincial People’s Committee Office, and the Phu Tho Investment Promotion and Business Support Center.

During the meeting, Mr. Lee Jin Woo and Chairman Tran Duy Dong exchanged views and proposed implementation plans for a project to construct an electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in Phu Tho. They also discussed cooperating with Vietnamese enterprises to establish battery swapping and charging stations for electric motorbikes in the province, utilizing official development assistance (ODA) funding from the South Korean government. Other topics included potential ODA investment cooperation with Phu Tho, as well as opportunities to expand production and business activities related to electric vehicles and EV batteries. These efforts aim to support the development of a two-wheeler electric vehicle (E2W) ecosystem in the province and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A representative of LG Energy Solution further noted the company’s growing interest in AI development and its consideration of additional manufacturing investments in Phu Tho – Vietnam in the medium and long term.

Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed strong support for LG Energy Solution’s proposal to build an EV battery factory and electric motorbike charging-swapping stations in Phu Tho. He assigned the Phu Tho Investment Promotion and Business Support Center as the main point of contact and requested close coordination with the Department of Finance and the Management Board of Industrial Parks to facilitate the company’s investment process and create the most favorable conditions for implementation.
