On July 29, Tran Duy Dong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, received and held a working session with leaders of SK Group (Republic of Korea) and ISC Vina Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Leaders of several provincial departments and agencies also attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Tran Duy Dong highly appreciated the reputation and global standing of SK Group, one of the Republic of Korea’s leading conglomerates operating in a wide range of sectors, particularly high technology, energy, advanced materials and semiconductors.
He expressed his sincere appreciation to SK Group for its long-standing partnership with Vietnam, including its $30 million contribution to the construction of the National Innovation Center (NIC), which has helped promote the country’s innovation ecosystem and high-tech development.
The Chairman emphasized that following the provincial merger, Phu Tho possesses significant potential and competitive advantages in attracting foreign direct investment, thanks to its strategic geographical location, integrated transport infrastructure, expanding economic scale and abundant human resources.
The province is prioritizing investment projects in high technology, clean technology, environmentally friendly industries and high value-added manufacturing. It also aims to develop a modern industrial ecosystem integrated with urban areas, services and logistics to meet the global supply chain shift while promoting green, smart and sustainable industrial development. In addition, the province plans to establish science and innovation centers as new drivers of economic growth in the coming years.

Chairman Tran Duy Dong noted that the Republic of Korea is currently the largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Phu Tho, reflecting the strong confidence of Korean enterprises in the province’s investment environment. He expressed the province’s desire to further expand cooperation with major Korean corporations, including SK Group, and encouraged them to explore investment opportunities aligned with Phu Tho’s development priorities.
Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to accompanying businesses throughout their investment journey, the Chairman assigned the Management Board of Provincial Industrial Parks and the Investment Promotion and Business Support Center to continue working closely together to proactively provide information, resolve difficulties and create favorable conditions for investors, particularly Korean enterprises, to study, invest in and expand their operations in Phu Tho.
On behalf of SK Group, Han Seong Won, Chief Representative of SK Group in Vietnam, thanked the provincial leaders for the warm reception and highly appreciated the local government’s support for Korean businesses operating in the province.
He noted that Vietnam is entering a new stage of rapid development with the goal of becoming an upper-middle-income country and has clearly identified digital economy development as a national strategic priority. SK Group fully supports this direction and is actively studying a range of initiatives to accompany Vietnam in its development process.
Having learned about Phu Tho’s investment environment and development orientation, Han Seong Won affirmed that he would report the information to SK Group’s leadership. In his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Business in Vietnam (KOCHAM), he also pledged to actively introduce Phu Tho’s investment potential, competitive advantages and business opportunities to Korean enterprises seeking investment opportunities in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Im Seung Gyun, the newly appointed General Director of ISC Vina Manufacturing Co., Ltd., gave an overview of the company’s operations.
ISC Vina Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a wholly Korean-owned enterprise operating a manufacturing plant at Ba Thien II Industrial Park in Binh Nguyen Commune. The project has a total investment of $42.35 million and occupies an area of nearly 2 hectares. Since commencing operations in April 2018, the factory has specialized in manufacturing components and equipment for the semiconductor industry, including POGO pins, semiconductor testing components, PCB processing, plastic molds and aluminum molds.
Im Seung Gyun expressed his hope that the company would continue to receive support from the provincial authorities to expand its operations, thereby contributing to the development of the semiconductor industry and the high-tech supply chain in Phu Tho Province.
