Majestic, untouched natural landscapes paired with the unique cultural identities of ethnic minority communities have created a distinct appeal for eco-resort tourism in the highland commune of Da Bac. In recent years, driven by investments in transport infrastructure and resorts, Da Bac has emerged as an attractive destination for nature lovers seeking a peaceful retreat.

Mo Village Resort, featuring lush green spaces and panoramic lake views, attracts large numbers of visitors.
Currently, the transport route connecting Hanoi to Da Bac is becoming increasingly convenient, significantly shortening travel times. Capitalizing on its existing advantages, the local government aims to develop tourism models tied to nature conservation and cultural preservation. The primary focus is on community-based tourism and eco-resorts combined with recreation, entertainment, and cultural immersion. Tourism products are designed with a green, eco-friendly approach, effectively tapping into the potential of the Hoa Binh Lake Tourism Area. Notably, Hien Luong Bay serves as a highlight of eco-resort tourism in the commune. Prominent resorts in the area, such as Mo Village, Xoan Retreat, and Mit Retreat, offer stunning spaces with direct views overlooking the lake.
Ms. Le Thu Huong, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: 'I really love the atmosphere at Mo Village. You can admire Hoa Binh Lake from both the guest rooms and the surrounding grounds. The scenery is beautiful, the air is fresh, and the service prices are reasonable, making it perfect for weekend getaways.'
In addition to focusing on accommodation spaces, the resorts have also invested in numerous amenities to serve guests, including infinity pools, restaurants, bars, children’s play areas, gardens, and outdoor experiential activities.
At Hien Luong Eco, visitors can stay in traditional stilt houses, stroll through flower fields, take boat cruises on the lake, savor Northwest specialty dishes, and explore the culture of the Muong and Dao ethnic groups through community cultural performances. The spacious venue is also ideal for hosting group activities, events, and outdoor parties.

Resorts focus on providing convenient services to meet the accommodation, relaxation, and entertainment needs of tourists.
Alongside resort stays, experiential activities on Hoa Binh Lake are increasingly being prioritized and developed by tourist spots. Kayaking, lakeside cycling, trekking, swimming in infinity pools, or participating in water sports offer visitors plenty of options during their journey of nature exploration.
Mr. Phung Anh Tuan, a tourist from Hai Phong, said: 'Spending my days off in Da Bac helps me recharge after work pressure. Being immersed in nature, kayaking, and experiencing the local culture are things that left a deep impression on me.'
According to Mr. Bui Xuan Truong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, with the potential of the Hoa Binh Lake Tourism Area in general and Hien Luong Bay in particular, Da Bac commune is becoming one of the province’s focal points for eco-resort tourism development. The locality aims to attract resort projects combined with healthcare and wellness services, while simultaneously expanding experiential products like kayaking, mountain climbing, and cycling to meet the increasingly diverse demands of tourists.

Along with improving service quality, Da Bac commune continues to invest in upgrading infrastructure, conserving natural landscapes, and preserving the cultural identities of ethnic groups. Integration programs linking the Hoa Binh Lake Tourism Area with destinations inside and outside the province, especially Moc Chau (Son La), are also being promoted to expand the tourist market and diversify tourism products.
With an increasingly well-invested resort system, spectacular landscapes, and authentic experiences deeply rooted in the lakeside culture, Da Bac is progressively asserting its position as an attractive eco-resort destination, contributing to green and sustainable tourism development.
