Department of Industry and Trade Works with Samsung Vietnam Representatives

On the afternoon of August 21, the Department of Industry and Trade held a working session with representatives from Samsung Vietnam.

At the meeting, leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade gave an overview of the province’s industrial development results in the first six months of 2026, as well as the implementation outcomes of Samsung’s programs in Phu Tho.

Accordingly, the province currently has 500 enterprises producing supporting industrial products in the electronics sector, including 45 Tier-1 suppliers and approximately 80 Tier-2 suppliers for Samsung Vietnam. Over the years, Samsung has been implementing programs to train Vietnamese consultants in production and quality improvement, train human resources in mold making, provide consulting support for businesses, and search for new potential suppliers.

Leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade proposed that Samsung Vietnam consider including Phu Tho among the potential localities to strengthen cooperation and serve as a destination for Samsung’s suppliers in the Northern region. At the same time, they requested Samsung to support Phu Tho in attracting large-scale, high-tech, and knowledge-intensive enterprises to invest in local industrial zones and clusters, as well as to continue helping local firms improve production capacity to increase the number of Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers for Samsung.

The Department of Industry and Trade also proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung to implement specific programs in the coming period.

With its state management functions over energy, import-export, and international economic integration, the Department of Industry and Trade committed to accompanying Samsung Vietnam, resolving difficulties and administrative procedures within its authority, and creating favorable conditions for Samsung’s investments in Phu Tho province.

Speaking at the session, the representative of Samsung Vietnam highly appreciated the coordination and support from Phu Tho province over the past period, while clarifying several contents regarding business support programs, expert training, and supplier network development.

The Samsung Vietnam representative affirmed that the company would continue to research and coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to roll out suitable programs, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of supporting industry enterprises in the province and helping Phu Tho businesses integrate deeper into the supply chains of major corporations.
