Infrastructure development serves as the foundation for expanding development space, strengthening regional connectivity, directly supporting production and business, and improving people’s lives. It opens new opportunities for sustainable growth. As Phu Tho sets a GRDP growth target of 11% for 2026, completing the infrastructure system is not only urgent but decisive.

Following the merger, Phu Tho’s administrative boundaries have expanded, creating a large-scale new development space. The province has mobilized and effectively utilized investment resources, focusing on breakthroughs and key tasks. Specifically, it has created a strong breakthrough in transport, industrial, and social infrastructure, treating these as a “dual breakthrough” for comprehensive development.
Regarding transport infrastructure, numerous major and key projects have been implemented or proposed to create regional connectivity, including: the Ho Chi Minh Highway – National Highway 70B – National Highway 32C route to (former) Yen Bai; the parallel road to the Hanoi – Lao Cai railway; the Hoa Binh – Moc Chau expressway; the Viet Tri – Hoa Binh connection road; the Capital Region transport connectivity project within the province; the Hoa Lac – Hoa Binh road; and the upgrade of National Highway 6 (Xuan Mai – Hoa Binh section). Currently, the province possesses over 31,000 km of roads, nearly 680 km of inland waterways, and approximately 113 km of national railways with 13 stations. The rate of hardened rural roads has reached 81.5%. Transport infrastructure is gradually becoming modern and multi-modal, effectively serving the development of industrial zones and clusters, logistics centers, and key tourist destinations.
In late December 2025, the province commenced two vital transport projects: the construction of the IC2 and IC5 interchanges on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway (passing through the former Vinh Phuc province) and the Phu Tho Railway Station project under the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phòng railway investment. These projects contribute to finalizing the transport infrastructure system, creating seamless links between local traffic and expressways, as well as between the national railway and the provincial road network, thereby optimizing infrastructure efficiency and creating breakthroughs in economic connectivity.
In addition, the province is prioritizing investment in synchronous and modern industrial infrastructure. The goal is to gradually transform Phu Tho into a major national industrial hub for automobiles, motorcycles, electronics, digital technology, and high-tech sectors. The province aims for a value-added growth rate in the industry and construction sector of 14.5% – 15.5% per year, contributing approximately 50% of the total provincial GRDP by 2030.
To date, 28 out of 58 industrial parks (IPs) in the province have received investment policy approval. Among these, 17 IPs are already operational, while 11 are in the land clearance and construction phase. The average occupancy rate of these IPs exceeds 70%, contributing up to 90% of the total provincial budget revenue. Additionally, the province has established 66 industrial clusters covering a total area of over 3,000 hectares, with 35 clusters currently in operation, attracting 930 secondary projects. The province also prioritizes expanding new IPs along the Hanoi – Lao Cai expressway and the 4th and 5th Ring Roads to establish a modern and synchronous infrastructure.
The focused development of transport and industrial infrastructure alongside digital infrastructure is an inevitable trend, regarded by the province as a strategic breakthrough to enhance competitiveness and drive economic growth. Phu Tho’s digital technology infrastructure is receiving heavy investment, aiming to build a modern, integrated system focused on digital government, data connectivity, and AI applications. This forms the foundation for comprehensive digital transformation and improves governance and management capabilities. Telecommunications coverage has reached 98% of the province’s area with 9,283 BTS stations, including 868 newly built 5G stations—a six-fold increase compared to the period before July 1, 2025. Furthermore, 5G coverage now reaches 100% of commune and ward centers and all industrial parks. Currently, the province is accelerating the development of a digital government and digital economy, striving for clear progress and aiming to join the leading group of localities nationwide in this field.
With high political determination and a clear strategic orientation, Phu Tho is step-by-step realizing its infrastructure breakthroughs, creating new momentum for socio-economic development, affirming its position, and opening up a sustainable future for the locality.
