Implementing the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program, many cooperatives and enterprises in Phu Tho province have proactively leveraged their advantages to build distinctive brands with high economic value. These efforts not only diversify agricultural products but also expand market access, better meeting the growing demands of consumers.
At a recent meeting with CT&D Group and Phu My Hung Development Corporation, the provincial People’s Committee presented Tam Dao Cordyceps Militaris - an outstanding OCOP product as a gift to Mr. Gary Tseng, General Director of Phu My Hung, and his delegation. This was not only a source of pride for Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative but also a testament to the quality and reputation of OCOP products from Phu Tho in particular, and Vietnamese agricultural products in general.
Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative has 12 OCOP-certified products, including Tam Dao Cordyceps Militaris, which has been awarded a 4-star OCOP rating.
Taking advantage of Tam Dao’s year-round cool climate, an ideal condition for cultivating medicinal mushrooms, especially cordyceps, the Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative (Tam Dao commune) has invested in modern technology combined with traditional cultivation methods to produce high-quality products that retain valuable medicinal compounds. Currently, the cooperative has 12 OCOP-certified products, of which Tam Dao Cordyceps Militaris has achieved a 4-star OCOP rating.
Kim Boi Joint Stock Company is also among the pioneers in developing OCOP products. In January 2025, its two products pre-sliced sour bamboo shoots and instant dried bamboo shoots were recognized as national 5-star OCOP products. Today, the company’s processed bamboo products have entered demanding markets such as Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, while also being distributed through major domestic retail chains including Lotte, AEON, and Winmart.
Capitalizing on the abundant bamboo resources from Hoa Binh - a region famous for its specialty bamboo shoots, the company has invested in research and production under a closed-loop process meeting ISO 22000:2018 standards. The products are processed from natural bamboo shoots without preservatives, ensuring food safety while preserving their authentic traditional flavor.
Currently, Phu Tho province has 593 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher, including 5 products rated 5 stars. Over the years, the OCOP program has contributed to transforming the rural economic structure, generating high-quality products linked to value chains and consumption markets, meeting market demand, and improving farmers’ incomes. These products are not only tied to large raw material areas but also form sustainable value chains. Many enterprises have strengthened sales through online platforms such as Postmart.vn, Voso.vn, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok, helping to affirm brand reputation and expand markets.
In the coming time, the province will continue to direct relevant agencies to promote the development of rural craft villages in line with local strengths; integrate craft village products and OCOP products into tourism, festivals, and traditional cultural activities; support intellectual property registration and product certification under safe production standards (VietGAP, GlobalGAP); apply traceability systems; and invest in brand identity and protection systems. These measures aim to enhance product value and competitiveness, thereby helping Phu Tho’s OCOP products reach farther and affirm their position on the national agricultural map.
