The high-stakes infrastructure project linking the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway has officially reached 84% of its total physical construction volume. Representing a total public investment capitalization of over 692 billion VND, the project has been aggressively executed since mid-February 2025. The strategic transport corridor spans a total length of over 2.7 kilometers, designed to directly interconnect the IC9 Interchange of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with the terminal point of the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway, with the remaining segments dedicated to a synchronized frontage road system.
The strategic corridor connecting the twin arterial lifelines—the Noi Bai - Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressways—enters its final asphalt paving and finishing phase.
Following a rigorous construction timeline of over one year, the link project is now entering its final completion phase. The main mainline corridor has been fully paved with surface asphalt, and the vital interchange overpass structure has been successfully constructed.
According to the latest technical audit issued by the Phú Thọ Regional Project Management Board, structural works have successfully surpassed 84% of the contract volume. Specifically, the contractors have completed 5 out of 5 underpasses, 10 out of 10 concrete box culverts, 14 out of 14 pipe culverts, 100% of precast concrete components, 100% of retaining walls, and the entire overpass spanning Provincial Road 315B. For the mainline corridor, the application of aggregate base courses and successive layers of asphalt concrete has been finalized. Concurrently, the branch roads at the IC9 interchange, frontage links, and restored local pathways have achieved 100% completion for subgrade grading, 50% for aggregate base laying, and 30% for asphalt concrete paving.
Currently, engineering teams are concentrating construction materials on-site to accelerate specialized system installations. Structural works for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)—including foundation excavation, plastic conduit laying, and cable warning tape placement—have hit 80% completion. Additionally, the installation of noise barriers and corrugated beam guardrails has reached 85%, while the foundation embedding for light poles, cantilever sign supports, gantry structures, and traffic signage stands at 50%.
The consortium of contractors is currently mobilizing an intensified force of labor and specialized machinery to wrap up the remaining engineering items. This final surge aims to formally hand over and commission the entire expressway link into commercial operation, instantly fulfilling the regional transit demands of the populace, streamlining freight logistics, and fueling macroeconomic growth across the economic zone.
