Industry Paves the Way for Development Aspirations

In the journey of progress, every locality carries a mission to help realize the nation’s aspiration for prosperity and happiness. For Phu Tho Province—the ancestral heartland of the nation—this mission is being vividly demonstrated through powerful shifts in industrial development. These strides serve as a vital engine for socio-economic growth, asserting the province’s role and stature within the country’s new development landscape.

The Catalyst for Double-Digit Growth

The year 2025 marked a distinct breakthrough for Phu Tho. Amidst domestic and international economic fluctuations, under the decisive leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, and the People’s Committee, the province’s socio-economy maintained high growth momentum, becoming a “bright spot” in the Northern Midlands and Mountains.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, investment attraction achieved outstanding results. Total FDI reached an estimated $1.51 billion, a 64% increase compared to 2024. Domestic investment capital was estimated at 220 trillion VND, 3.6 times higher than the previous year. Export turnover in 2025 was estimated at $36.8 billion, placing Phu Tho among the top exporting localities nationwide, while public investment disbursement also ranked among the leaders.

Notably, GRDP in 2025 grew by 10.52%, ranking 4th nationally and the highest in the Northern Midlands and Mountains. The total economic scale reached over 412 trillion VND. Phu Tho achieved and exceeded all 15 out of 15 socio-economic targets, affirming the leadership capacity and high sense of responsibility of the provincial Party, government, and people.

Mr. Tran Quang Tuan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, noted that these achievements bear the clear signature of industrial breakthroughs. In 2025, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) was estimated to increase by 26.8% compared to 2024—the highest growth rate since 2019—reflecting a trend of rapid recovery and steady acceleration in the province’s industrial sector.

In 2025, the entire province will have 4,500 newly registered businesses, reaching 128.6% of the target and increasing by 44.2% compared to the same period; registered capital will exceed 40,000 billion VND, reaching 114.3% of the target and increasing by 29.1% compared to the same period. Approximately 1,000 businesses have resumed production and business activities, an increase of 25% compared to 2024.

Specifically, the processing and manufacturing industry contributed 82.4% to the total IIP increase (a growth of 126.86%), continuing to be the primary engine of the sector. Many key industrial sectors and products achieved high growth rates (electronic component manufacturing rose by 22.2%; laptop production increased by 32.3%; etc.). The mining, electricity production, and distribution sectors also maintained positive growth, effectively serving infrastructure projects and socio-economic development needs.

Along with the expansion in scale and speed, industry has strongly driven the economic restructuring toward industrialization and modernization. By the end of 2025, the industry-construction sector accounted for 46.58% of the GRDP, with industry alone contributing 40.92%. These figures not only reflect immediate results but also affirm the increasingly prominent role of industry in Phu Tho’s long-term development strategy.

Proactive Planning for High-Tech Industrial Production

Following the merger, Phu Tho province now possesses three distinct development zones: the midland, the plain, and the high mountainous region, creating significant potential for diversified economic development. The Resolution of the First Phu Tho Provincial Party Congress clearly defined the direction of rapid and sustainable development, emphasizing that industry must lead the way, but without sacrificing the environment for growth.

The province’s industrial development orientation is built on a foundation of synchronized and modern industrial park (IP) infrastructure, coupled with a transparent and open investment environment. This is Phu Tho’s “competitive advantage” amidst increasing competition for investment among localities, making the province a highlight in the Northern Midlands and Mountains.

Currently, 21 countries and territories are investment partners in the province's industrial parks, with South Korea leading with 256 projects and a registered investment capital of US$4,315.7 million, accounting for 44% of the total investment. The business performance of enterprises in the industrial parks has increased compared to the same period last year; FDI projects are estimated to reach US$35.2 billion in revenue, double that of 2024; and DDI projects are estimated to reach VND 34,755 billion in revenue, a 25% increase compared to 2024.

Reports from the Provincial Industrial Zones Authority show that by the end of 2025, the province had established 28 IPs with a total area of over 5,800 hectares. Among the 30 IPs planned for development through 2030 (with a total land-use scale of over 7,437 hectares), 8 have received approved subdivision plans as a basis for investment policy approval; the remaining 22 are undergoing review and procedural completion.

According to Mr. Hoang Long Bien, Head of the Provincial Industrial Zones Authority, industrial planning has been adjusted toward centralization and regional linkage, leveraging the comparative advantages of each area. The consistent direction is to develop green, smart, and sustainable industrial park models, aligning with modern industrial trends and the increasing demands of the digital and knowledge-based economies.

The results of 2025 serve as the foundation for Phu Tho to accelerate industrial production in 2026 and beyond. With the vision of becoming a growth pole of the Capital Region by 2030 and a centrally-run city by 2045, Phu Tho is joining the nation in realizing the aspiration to thrive in a new era of development.

Mr. Tran Quang Tuan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, noted that 2026 holds special significance as the nation commemorates 40 years of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process. In this context, Phu Tho aims to fulfill all 15 key socio-economic targets, maintaining double-digit growth to create a solid foundation for the next stage of development.

The powerful acceleration of Phu Tho’s industry today is not only the result of sound policies and decisive governance but also a vivid testament to the vitality, resilience, and wisdom of the provincial Party, government, and people. With this established foundation and a strongly ignited aspiration, Phu Tho moves forward confidently into a new era of development.
