The growth of the digital economy is reinforcing the increasingly vital role of the electronics and Information Technology (IT) industry in the industrial development of Phu Tho province. The IT industry is emerging as a high value-added sector, contributing significantly to the province’s industrial production structure and export turnover.

In recent years, the digital industry has made a distinct contribution to the province’s economic growth. In 2025, the digital economy accounted for an average of approximately 22% of Phu Tho’s GRDP. The province’s IT sector has attracted several large-scale Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects in electronic equipment, initially creating competitive products that have transformed the industrial landscape in terms of both revenue and employment.
The network of IT enterprises in the province is constantly expanding. Currently, Phu Tho hosts about 500 IT companies, with annual revenues estimated at over 257 trillion VND. The province has gradually integrated deeper into the IT and electronics supply chain of Northern Vietnam, particularly in component manufacturing and assembly. This serves as a crucial foundation for building a digital industrial platform and creating growth opportunities for high-tech industries. Furthermore, with a workforce of approximately 112,000 people, the sector not only generates jobs but also drives the transition from manual labor to highly skilled technical labor, meeting the demands of modern production.
The presence of enterprises with significant investment and technological prowess has helped establish an IT industrial base with products capable of joining regional and global supply chains. This is a pivotal shift, helping the province’s industry reduce its reliance on traditional sectors while opening new development spaces based on modern technology. To date, more than 70 enterprises investing in the province are part of the component supply chains for global tech giants such as Samsung, Dell, and Apple.
Hwa Sung Vina Co., Ltd. (Cam Khe Industrial Zone) specializes in manufacturing and processing cables for telecommunications, IT, automotive, and surveillance systems. The company operates a closed-loop production process to ensure synchronization across all stages, thereby reducing costs, boosting labor productivity, and controlling product quality. According to Mr. Jeon Jum Youl, CEO of the company, investing in synchronized technology and closed-loop production helps the business maintain stable growth, expand its market share, and participate more deeply in the electronic industry supply chain.
The IT industry plays a paramount role in the restructuring of Phu Tho’s industrial sector. In the coming time, alongside the perfection of infrastructure in industrial zones and clusters, the province aims to steer the IT-electronics industry toward higher technological content and high-value areas such as software and digital services. This strategy will gradually solidify the role of the IT-electronics industry in promoting a modern, sustainable industrial shift, contributing practically to the socio-economic development of Phu Tho.
