Recognizing tourism as a key economic sector capable of generating spillover effects across multiple industries, Phu Tho Province has prioritized mobilizing resources to develop modern and synchronized tourism infrastructure. The strategy is regarded as a key solution for expanding development space, improving the quality of tourism products, enhancing the attractiveness of destinations, attracting more visitors and supporting the province’s goal of achieving double-digit economic growth in the new development period.

Wyndham Thanh Thuy Tourism Area attracts a large number of visitors for sightseeing and resort vacations.
To date, the province has steadily improved its tourism infrastructure, with two national tourism areas, one provincial tourism area and 15 provincial tourist attractions officially recognized. Phu Tho is also completing documentation to seek national tourism area status for Hoa Binh Lake Tourism Area. The province’s accommodation network has expanded significantly, comprising 1,520 establishments with more than 20,000 rooms, including 182 hotels, nine of which are rated four or five stars. In addition, 94 travel agencies are currently operating, providing an increasingly comprehensive range of services for visitors.
Based on the province’s post-merger development planning, Phu Tho is establishing a tourism network centered on national tourism areas, major tourism hubs and specialized tourism clusters, maximizing the value of each region’s natural resources, cultural heritage and landscapes.
In the former Phu Tho area, five key tourism centers—Viet Tri, Thanh Thuy, Xuan Son, Ha Hoa and Tam Nong—are receiving priority investment in tourism infrastructure. Viet Tri continues to strengthen its role as the cultural tourism center of the Vietnamese ancestral homeland through continued investment in parks, public squares, museums, cultural facilities and infrastructure serving major festivals. Thanh Thuy is being developed into a leading hot mineral spring resort destination, supported by numerous high-end resorts, hotels, upgraded transport infrastructure and landscaped public spaces. Xuan Son is benefiting from improved transport links connecting the area with Long Coc and Tan Son, creating favorable conditions for eco-tourism, resort tourism and adventure tourism. Meanwhile, Ha Hoa and Tam Nong are attracting large-scale investments in eco-tourism, golf courses and resort urban developments, further expanding the province’s tourism landscape.
Thanh Thuy continues to stand out as one of the province’s most dynamic tourism destinations. High-quality resort projects such as Dao Ngoc Xanh, Lynn Times Thanh Thuy, Bamboo Resort and Tre Nguon Resort have either become operational or are under construction. The locality currently has 24 accommodation establishments offering 3,663 rooms.
According to Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Thuy Commune People’s Committee, the commune’s Party Committee has issued a specialized resolution on tourism development for the 2025–2030 period with the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector and establishing Thanh Thuy as a major tourism center within the province. Priority will be given to improving planning, transport infrastructure and landscapes, developing tourism products associated with hot mineral springs, ecology and local culture, while accelerating digital transformation in tourism promotion and marketing.
In the former Vinh Phuc area, Tam Dao National Tourism Area, Dai Lai–Ngoc Thanh and Tay Thien tourism areas continue to be developed in accordance with the 2021–2030 provincial master plan with a vision to 2050. At the same time, tourism destinations around Thanh Lanh Lake, Xa Huong Lake, Van Truc Lake, Lang Ha Lake, Bo Lac Lake and Ban Long Waterfall are gradually forming a diverse tourism ecosystem featuring resort tourism, eco-tourism, wellness tourism, sports tourism and spiritual-cultural tourism.
Another major highlight is Hoa Binh Lake Tourism Area, which is being upgraded to meet the criteria for recognition as a national tourism area. A series of resort developments, eco-tourism projects and community-based tourism destinations are creating distinctive tourism products that enhance the competitiveness and appeal of Phu Tho’s tourism sector.
Alongside investment in physical infrastructure, the province is also promoting digital infrastructure for tourism by developing smart tourism products and improving tourism promotion, destination management and visitor experiences through digital technologies.
The effectiveness of these development policies is reflected in the province’s strong tourism performance. During the first six months of 2026, Phu Tho welcomed more than 10.54 million visitors, an increase of 13.3 percent compared with the same period last year. Tourism revenue reached nearly VND 10.76 trillion, up 10.9 percent, while overnight visitors totaled 3.22 million and international arrivals reached approximately 74,000. These figures highlight the growing appeal of Phu Tho as a tourism destination and demonstrate the effectiveness of its strategy of combining infrastructure investment with improvements in tourism products and services.
Modern tourism infrastructure is not only expanding the province’s tourism space and strengthening destination competitiveness but also attracting investment, stimulating consumption and supporting the development of trade, services, transport, agriculture and cultural industries. With a clear strategic vision and sustained investment, tourism is steadily emerging as one of Phu Tho’s key economic sectors, making an increasingly important contribution to rapid and sustainable economic growth.
