Opening of the 1st Son Dong Commune Sports Congress 2026
On the morning of April 11, Son Dong Commune held the opening ceremony of its 1st Sports Congress 2026, attracting a large number of officials, local residents, and athletes.
Son Dong Commune promotes the sports movement following the example of Uncle Ho.
The congress featured more than 1,000 athletes representing various villages, agencies, units, and schools in the area. Athletes competed in 8 sports, including: men’s football, air volleyball, pickleball, xiangqi (Chinese chess), chess, sack race, athletics, and table tennis, with a diverse range of 12 competition categories.
Leaders of the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Son Dong Commune present commemorative flags to participating units.
This event serves as a practical activity to evaluate the results of the local mass sports movement while further promoting the campaign "All people exercise their bodies following the example of the great Uncle Ho."
The Congress aims to improve public health and spiritual life, strengthen community solidarity, and drive the continuous development of local physical education and sports.
A special musical performance by students welcomes the Congress.
Immediately following the opening ceremony, athletes began competing in several final rounds, creating a vibrant and exciting atmosphere that drew large crowds of cheering spectators.
Athletes compete in the men’s air volleyball category.
