Peach with elegant shape “attracts customers” during Tet

When Tet comes, spring comes, people are busy buying peach blossoms to display for Tet with the concept that the bright colors of peach blossoms are a symbol of fertility, prosperity and welcoming a warm and full new year.

To meet the needs of customers, many garden owners have painstakingly created curvy shapes with many unique and strange shapes such as: Long shape, straight shape, sloping shape, horizontal shape.... however, this year, the trend of “playing peaches” with the legendary shape - peaches that look like waterfalls is “attracting customers” and many people are looking to buy them.

In Viet Tri city, at this time, the flower and ornamental plant market for Tet decoration and display is quite bustling. Black peaches are also sold more and are not as rare as in previous years. Along the roads, streets, and central areas, many traders have carefully arranged in rows and continuously invite customers to visit the unique peach blossom “ten trees are the same as one”.

Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh - a small trader selling flowers and ornamental plants at Minh Phuong market, Viet Tri city, said: Black-shaped peaches are similar to other types of peaches, with dark pink peaches and pale pink peaches. Starting from December 15, I imported more than 50 peach branches with the same shape in Hung Yen and Hanoi to sell. Each branch is 3-4m long, with prices ranging from 800,000 VND to 1.2 million VND/branch depending on size, while regular peach branches cost 200,000-500,000 VND/big, beautiful branch. Many customers really like it and are willing to spend money to buy it to display during Tet.

According to many customers, the reason why black peaches attract customers is because of their strange and beautiful shape. The peach stem is 2 - 3 meters long, crawling over the edge of the pot and falling to the bottom like a waterfall. The top of the tree is longer than the bottom of the pot, the branches are luxuriant, sprouting buds and reaching forward, showing pride, symbolizing strong vitality, perseverance and resilience, bringing good luck on the first day of the new year.

The beautiful shape of peaches, increased customer demand, and the economic value of peach blossoms being two or three times higher than traditional peach blossoms are the motivation for peach flower growing villages in the province not to stand out the “race” to innovate and improve the design and quality of traditional peach blossom trees based on available experience. Many garden owners diligently travel to famous peach areas to learn how to choose varieties, care for them, create positions, and graft eyes to keep up with the market’s flower hobby.

This year, at Nha Nit peach blossom craft village, Thanh Dinh commune, Viet Tri city- a famous peach blossom growing area of the province, the legendary peach shape has also been cared for and created successfully by many garden owners. Many traders have been “hunting” to buy from very early on. Mr. Le Van Ly - Head of Nha Nit peach blossom craft village said: People in the craft village started making wild peach blossoms from Tet 2022, at that time there were only a few households growing them on a trial basis, while doing so and learning from experience. By this year, the whole village had over 1,000 peach trees brought to the market with the lowest price of 700,000 VND/branch and the highest price of 1.5 million VND/branch sold at the garden. Currently, most of the peach branches have owners and there are still many customers coming to ask to buy them. It is expected that next Tet, the craft village will supply to the market twice as many peaches as this year, along with ancient peach varieties, new peaches, and branch peaches to serve a diverse range of customers.
