Phu Tho exceeds 2024 forest planting target

According to the 2024 plan, the whole province will plant 9,100 hectares of new production forests; 50 hectares of protective and special-use forests; 2,220 hectares of large timber forests; nearly 2,400 scattered trees; and care for 28,000 hectares of planted forests. Up to now, these targets have all met and exceeded the set plan, in which the area of concentrated production forests is estimated at 9,400 hectares, reaching 102.7% of the plan.

The whole province has planted over 2,400 scattered trees, reaching 101.3% of the plan; cared for 28,200 hectares of planted forests; contracted forest protection for 37,000 hectares... In particular, the work of intensive cultivation, planting, and conversion of large timber forests; support for certification of sustainable forest management has been given attention. Thereby, the area of large timber forests has increased significantly, adding nearly 2,600 hectares, of which the newly planted area reached 2,260 hectares; 13,700 hectares of forests were granted sustainable forest management certificates.

In recent years, Phu Tho has always been a locality assessed to have a strong forest planting movement, contributing to maintaining a good forest cover rate of nearly 40% in the province. To achieve this positive result, the Forest Protection Department has strengthened coordination with related units; directed the Forest Protection Departments to coordinate with local authorities at the commune level to prepare the site and materials (seedlings, fertilizers) for forest planting; guided the transfer of planting and forest care techniques to forest owners to ensure proper technical procedures...

The good implementation of afforestation has contributed to improving the environment, combating climate change, and especially increasing income for forest growers, as well as creating a stable source of input materials, ensuring quality and quantity for the forest products processing industry.
