The province currently has 2,130 cooperatives, of which 1,797 are in operation, accounting for 84.36% of the total. Phu Tho is also home to three cooperative unions and approximately 1,360 cooperative groups.

Members of Hoa Ban Cooperative in Mai Chau Commune preserve the traditional brocade weaving craft while creating sustainable livelihoods for women in mountainous areas.
The cooperative sector has nearly 188,000 members and provides stable employment for more than 155,900 workers. Around 44.2% of the province’s cooperatives are classified as performing well or fairly well.
Across the province, there are 6,809 cooperative managers, including 3,059 with college or university qualifications, accounting for 44.9% of the total.
Agriculture continues to be the leading sector, with 803 active agricultural cooperatives attracting approximately 129,000 members and creating regular jobs for 20,600 workers.
The average monthly income of employees working in agricultural cooperatives is approximately VND 4.9 million.
In 2025, the average annual revenue of an agricultural cooperative was estimated at more than VND 1.7 billion, while average profit reached VND 244 million.
The province currently has 135 agricultural cooperatives participating in value-chain linkages with enterprises and 127 cooperatives applying high technologies in production.
During the 2026–2030 period, Phu Tho aims to shift its cooperative development strategy from focusing on quantity to improving quality and operational efficiency. The province will prioritize building cooperatives with stronger governance capacity, closer market linkages, and production organized along value chains.
