On the morning of September 8, Mr. Pham Dai Duong—Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies—received and worked with a delegation from Nara Prefecture (Japan) led by Governor Yamashita Makoto, visiting and working in Phu Tho province.

Also attending the reception were Mr. Bui Van Quang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; along with members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee, and heads of local departments, boards, and sectors.

Speaking at the reception, Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong warmly welcomed Governor Yamashita Makoto and members of the Nara delegation to Phu Tho.

The Provincial Party Secretary provided a general overview of the province’s socio-economic development while introducing its potential, strengths, and future development orientations.

Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong emphasized: Vietnam and Japan share a long-standing relationship of friendship and cooperation built on political trust, cultural similarities, and increasingly interconnected interests across multiple fields.

After more than half a century of establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam-Japan ties have been flourishing, growing increasingly deep, substantive, and effective. In particular, the upgrading of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World has opened a new phase of development characterized by broader cooperation, greater depth, and higher political trust.

Briefly introducing Phu Tho’s new development space following its expansion in area and population, Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong affirmed: Today, Phu Tho stands as one of the major economies in the region and ranks among the leading localities nationwide in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), hosting prominent Japanese corporations such as Honda, Toyota, and Meiko...

Building on this solid foundation of good relations, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested that both sides continue cooperating to boost FDI attraction in high-tech projects, precision engineering, and electronics, while supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises to integrate deeper into global supply chains.

He also proposed leveraging the cultural parallels between the “Ancestral Land of Phu Tho” and the “Ancient Capital of Nara” by alternating the hosting of cultural festivals and cultural weeks, alongside connecting eco-tourism and resort destinations. Furthermore, both sides should coordinate to advance vocational training cooperation and the supply of high-quality human resources.

Provincial Party Secretary Pham Dai Duong stated that both sides should continue playing active roles as members within the framework of the East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress initiated by Nara Prefecture. Together, they can research and advance new initiatives in areas of mutual interest, such as green tourism, digital transformation, sustainable development, heritage preservation and promotion, environmental protection, and addressing common regional challenges.

On behalf of the delegation, Nara Governor Yamashita Makoto expressed deep appreciation and sincere thanks for the warm and respectful reception extended by the leaders and people of Phu Tho.

Governor Yamashita Makoto praised Phu Tho’s economic development potential as well as its dynamic, transparent investment environment, expressing confidence that the Nara enterprises accompanying the delegation would identify practical investment and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam and Phu Tho province.

The Governor of Nara expressed his desire to continue receiving young, talented, and highly skilled human resources from Phu Tho to study and work in Nara in the coming time.
