Promoting economic diplomacy

On July 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference with Vietnamese representative agencies abroad on promoting economic diplomacy and strengthening economic growth in the last 6 months of 2024 and the following years.

Vietnam has reviewed and accelerated the implementation progress of key FTAs. At the same time, proactively and actively participate and contribute responsibly and effectively in important multilateral cooperation mechanisms such as: Mekong Sub-region, ASEAN, APEC, WTO, United Nations, G20... to take advantage of all resources for development.

Government leaders, ministries, branches and localities actively meet with foreign corporations to mobilize high-quality investment for green economic development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported provinces and cities in signing more than 20 memoranda of understanding with international partners.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and analyzing the results achieved, opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam, thereby proposing a number of recommendations to promote economic diplomacy.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that ministries, central branches, localities, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad have to continue promoting economic and trade cooperation, investment, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism development. Continue to negotiate, sign and complete FTA free trade agreements at many levels; Research and establish a long-term, stable economic and trade framework with important partners, promote new negotiations with potential partners to expand the development space. At the same time, focus on researching new solutions in technology transfer and innovation.

Attract selective foreign investment on the basis of ensuring environmental factors and sustainable development; Prioritize industries, fields, programs, and projects with high added value, using advanced and modern technology to serve infrastructure development, digital economy, digital transformation, and green growth.

Businesses should proactively connect with Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to promptly provide information and remove difficulties and obstacles regarding market and import-export situations; Improve product quality, packaging, design, and develop green products to meet the increasing requirements of major markets.
