On the morning of March 16, the People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province organized a seminar with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vietnam. The event was co-chaired by Mr. Tran Duy Dong – Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – and Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam.
An overview of the seminar.
The seminar saw the attendance of Vice Chairman Quach Tat Liem, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provincial departments, the Thai Chamber of Commerce (ThaiCham), and leaders from major corporations including Amata VN, Prime Group, and Central Retail, along with various Thai FDI enterprises operating in the province.
Welcoming the Ambassador and her delegation, Chairman Tran Duy Dong emphasized that the visit holds great significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations and follows Phu Tho’s recent administrative merger, marking a new chapter of development.
Highlighting Phu Tho’s strategic location, human resources, and industrial potential, the Chairman affirmed that industry is the province’s key growth driver. He highly appreciated the contributions of Thai FDI enterprises, which currently hold 15 projects with a total investment exceeding 400 million USD, focusing on industrial park infrastructure, construction materials, and trade services.
However, the Chairman noted that current cooperation remains modest compared to the existing potential. Phu Tho is committed to leading in investment environment improvement and administrative reform. Priority is currently given to sectors such as trade, tourism, automotive and motorcycle supporting industries, and smart agriculture integrated into retail supply chains.
Phu Tho also boasts immense potential in tourism and culture, with numerous eco-resorts and famous destinations. These assets serve as a bridge to promote tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. The province pledged to consistently accompany and support Thai enterprises in expanding production and increasing revenue.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed his in-principle agreement to host the Thai Connect event in Phu Tho, viewing it as a gateway to sustainable investment opportunities.
Expressing sincere gratitude to the provincial leadership, Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya congratulated Phu Tho on the success of the recent general elections, noting the province’s exceptionally high voter turnout.
The Ambassador praised the province’s historical traditions and development vision. Regarding the province’s proposals, she affirmed that such cooperation is entirely feasible, noting that many Thai firms are keenly researching investment opportunities in Phu Tho.
Sharing details on the upcoming Thai Connect – “Connecting Thailand in Phu Tho 2026” with the theme “Smart Cities as Drivers for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development,” the Ambassador stated that the forum would discuss smart city construction, environmental protection, renewable energy, and healthcare. The event will also feature people-to-people exchanges and trade booths for Thai and Vietnamese products. She cordially invited provincial leaders to deliver the opening speech and requested a focal point unit to coordinate the event’s success.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong presents the “Chua Tro Glazed Ceramic Tower” – a National Treasure of Phu Tho – to Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya.
In his closing remarks, Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed confidence that this visit would strongly catalyze cooperation between Phu Tho and Thai localities and organizations. He welcomed the Embassy’s proposal for Thai Connect 2026 and affirmed that the Provincial People’s Committee is ready to collaborate closely with the Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the event’s success.
