Success on the path to building new enhanced rural areas

In 2016, Song Lo commune, Viet Tri city was recognized as meeting new rural standards. In 2022, the commune will be selected by Viet Tri City as one of three pilot communes to implement construction of new enhanced rural areas. With the viewpoint of building new rural areas, there is only a starting point, and no ending point. The achieved criteria will help the locality to increasingly prosper and people’s lives to increasingly improve. That is the motivation for the Party Committee, the Government and people of Song Lo to be determined to reach the goal of improving enhanced rural areas according to the right path.

As a purely agricultural, semi-urban commune, located in the south of Viet Tri City, Song Lo has flat terrain, fertile land, concentrated population, and is the gateway to the city. The commune has favorable road and waterway traffic conditions for economic development and cultural exchange with neighboring areas. After completing the new rural commune plan, on the one hand, the commune will strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to actively participate in the campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas” associated with construction of new advanced rural areas, on the other hand, promote local economic and labor restructuring towards developing sub-urban agriculture and service industries.

Mr. Bui Manh Quang - Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee said: According to the set of criteria for new advanced agricultural communes in Phu Tho province for the 2021-2025 period, there will be 19 criteria and 75 targets that need to be completed. This requires great efforts from both the political system and the people of Song Lo commune in the process of building new advanced rural areas. Determining the goal of reaching the finish line in 2023, the commune quickly embarked on implementation with high determination and solidarity.

As the subject, people have voluntarily donated more than 1,000 square meters of land to expand rural roads, contributing money, labor days, dismantling fences... to renovate, expand roads, upgrade the cultural house, install lighting lines, build flower paths and flower walls. Of the total capital of more than 45 billion VND invested in building advanced rural areas, organizations, individuals, businesses and people have contributed a total value of 6.5 billion VND.

In addition, income criteria are always drastically directed by the Party Committee and commune authorities. In recent years, Song Lo has always focused on accumulating and concentrating land to develop agricultural production in the direction of commodity, organic and safe production associated with product consumption. Build livestock and crop models with high-yield and high-quality plants and animals; Strengthen the application of scientific and technical advances, bring mechanization into production; diversify rural occupations. Encourage agricultural workers to shift to work in industry, handicrafts, and services, contributing to improving the income of people in the area. Song Lo has built a concentrated raw material area for key agricultural products, issued planting area codes for two key local products, Grapefruit and Cucumber; Developed five large-scale economic models, with one product meeting 3-star OCOP standards...

In 2016, when it was recognized as meeting new rural standards with income criteria of 28 million VND/ person/ year, up to now, the commune’s average income per capita has reached 56.4 million VND/ year, contributing to reducing the commune’s poverty rate to 0.23%.

With the results achieved, in the last February 2024, Song Lo commune solemnly held a ceremony to receive the commune meeting new advanced rural standards in 2023 and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. This is the honor and pride of the Party Committee, the Government and people of Song Lo commune who have made efforts, strived and achieved in the movement of building advanced model rural areas.
