Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan extends New Year wishes to Phu Tho province

On January 10, Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, extended New Year wishes to officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command and presented gifts to people with meritorious services and policy families in the province.

The delegation was welcomed by Major General Nguyen Dang Khai, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 2; Mr. Phung Khanh Tai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; and members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and delegates visited and encouraged the forces at the Provincial Military Command.

Colonel Nguyen Dinh Cuong, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, reported to the Vice President, stating: “In 2024, the provincial armed forces united to build a strong Party organization and an exemplary unit. Officers and soldiers overcame challenges and successfully completed all aspects of military and defense work, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.”

Colonel Nguyen Dinh Cuong, commander of the Provincial Military Command, reported on the results of 2024, combat readiness work, and preparations to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025.

Speaking to encourage officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that Phu Tho province in general and the provincial armed forces in particular have achieved. He emphasized that in the common achievements that the whole country has achieved, there are positive contributions from the Party Committee, army, and people of Phu Tho province.

Recalling Uncle Ho’s advice when talking to cadres and soldiers of the Pioneer Army Corps on September 19, 1954: “President Ho Chi Minh said, “The Hung Kings established the country, we must together safeguard it”, the Vice President praised the Party Committee, government, and people of Phu Tho province. She highlighted their promotion of patriotism, solidarity, and creativity, as well as their ability to leverage advantages, overcome challenges, and achieve significant progress in economy, politics, culture, society, and national defense and security.

With its special significance and difficulties and challenges, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan requested the Provincial Military Command to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on national defense and security, focusing on the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee (13th tenure) on the Strategy for Homeland Protection in the new situation. Build a comprehensively strong provincial armed force with comprehensive quality and high combat readiness; build a regular force in the direction of being lean, compact, and strong; build a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force; build a strong reserve force.

The Vice President emphasized the need for the Military Command to proactively assess and forecast situations, respond promptly, and avoid passivity. She called for ensuring the safety of political events at both national and local levels, preparing adequate resources, and performing peacetime “combat” tasks effectively while addressing non-traditional security challenges.

Build party committees and organizations that are strong in politics, ideology, ethics, organization, and cadres; have comprehensive leadership capacity and high fighting strength; and lead the provincial armed forces to successfully complete all assigned tasks. Participate in building a strong local political base; actively implement local social security policies, build new rural areas, reduce poverty, eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, prevent natural disasters, rescue and relief, contribute to strengthening the close-knit relationship between the army and the people, consolidate the increasingly solid “people’s hearts and minds position,” and further enhance the image and qualities of "Uncle Ho’s soldiers.".

On the eve of the Lunar New Year 2025, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan wished the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command a happy, healthy, safe, economical, and highly combat-ready New Year, focusing on thoroughly grasping and seriously implementing the policies of the Central Government, the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Region, and the Provincial Party Committee on combat readiness and organizing the Lunar New Year 2025. Well implementing the military rear policy, the activities of “Repaying gratitude” on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

Also during the visit and gift-giving ceremony in Phu Tho province, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and delegates visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Phuoc (109 years old, Van Phu ward, Viet Tri city) and war invalid Do Tat Tinh (81% war invalid in Duu Lau ward, Viet Tri city).

Mother Nguyen Thi Phuoc’s husband was a martyr fighting against the French; her son was a martyr fighting against the Americans. She was awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother by the president in 2014. She is currently living with her daughter, 41% war invalid Nguyen Thi Huu.

War invalid Do Tat Tinh was born in 1959, participated in the battle on the Tay Ninh battlefield, was seriously injured, and was recognized by the state as an 81% war invalid. After being discharged from the army, he participated in production and economic development in the locality.

At the families she visited, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan kindly asked about their health, life, and activities and wished them a peaceful New Year. She affirmed that the Party and State always respect and are grateful for the sacrifices of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, and families with meritorious services for the independence and freedom of the nation. She hopes that the families will continue to promote the revolutionary tradition, encourage their children and grandchildren to actively study, work, and produce, contributing to the development of the locality...
