Developing OCOP (One Commune One Product) products in alignment with environmental protection is emerging as an inevitable trend in engineering green agriculture, a circular economy, and sustainable development across Phu Tho Province. By deploying clean manufacturing workflows, utilizing eco-friendly raw materials, mitigating plastic waste, and upgrading product quality, OCOP entities do not merely upscale their economic returns but actively contribute to building a green, clean, and beautiful countryside.

Mushroom products from the Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative are manufactured under safe, eco-friendly workflows.
Over recent years, the OCOP Program has driven a powerful surge in the economic development of the province’s rural sectors. Moving upward from conventional goods and localized specialties, numerous cooperatives, enterprises, and manufacturing hubs have proactively upgraded their technologies, enhanced product quality, and engineered brand equity anchored on safety and environmental friendliness.
A standout pioneer in this movement is the Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative. Guided by a clean agribusiness orientation, the cooperative focuses heavily on applying science and technology throughout its entire production line—stretching from raw material selection and crop tending to harvesting and deep processing. The primary medium for mushroom cultivation is ingeniously upcycled from agricultural byproducts, substantially relieving waste burdens on the local ecosystem. Following the harvest, the spent mushroom substrate is continuously recycled into high-grade organic fertilizer for crop farming, shaping an exemplary closed-loop circular production model that conserves resources and curbs environmental pollution.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy — Director of the Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative — stated: "Beyond standardizing the manufacturing phase, our cooperative places special emphasis on adopting eco-friendly packaging to guarantee absolute safety for consumers. Consequently, our mushroom product lines are increasingly favored by the market, upscaling economic values and generating stable livelihoods for local workers."
In Hung Lo Commune, the Hung Lo Rice Noodle Cooperative operates as another flagship OCOP model seamlessly combining manufacturing with environmental conservation. To enhance product consistency and satisfy stringent food safety and hygiene thresholds, the cooperative has heavily invested in modern, automated production lines, step by step phasing out fragmented manual methodologies. A synchronized wastewater treatment grid has been structurally deployed, drastically reducing the facility’s environmental footprint during manufacturing.
Crucially, the cooperative selectively sources high-quality rice from centralized agricultural zones and strictly monitors the manufacturing workflow to deliver wholesome products for public health. The product packaging is thoughtfully designed to be eco-friendly and highly recyclable, playing a direct part in minimizing localized solid waste discharge.
Moving past these individual flagships, a growing wave of OCOP entities across the province are recognizing the decisive role of environmental stewardship in the long-term survival of their brands. Numerous manufacturing hubs specializing in tea cultivation, food processing, medicinal herbs, and traditional handicrafts have boldly financed technological modifications, applying cleaner production methods, optimizing energy usage, and restricting waste generation.

Fusing environmental protection with OCOP development not only elevates product metrics but also builds an elite competitive edge, especially as contemporary consumers increasingly prioritize green, safe, and transparently sourced products. This acts as a vital passport enabling OCOP goods to penetrate major commercial centers, target export channels, and secure long-term viability.
To date, Phu Tho boasts nearly 700 certified OCOP products ranking from 3 stars and above, spanning diverse sectors such as foods, beverages, traditional handicrafts, and community-based ecotourism services. A highly remarkable milestone is the surging environmental awareness among cooperatives, collaborative groups, and enterprises during their daily manufacturing operations. This yield not only underscores the aggressive efforts of OCOP entities but also reflects the efficacy of harmonizing macroeconomic expansion with environmental preservation.
To continuously amplify the impacts of the OCOP Program, the Phu Tho provincial administration is stepping up communication campaigns and expanding institutional support. These policies encourage entities to apply advanced science, integrate digital transformation, engineer sustainable raw material zones, and adopt eco-friendly materials. Concurrently, state bodies are tightening statutory inspections and environmental monitoring across all localized manufacturing and processing facilities.
Ultimately, developing OCOP products alongside environmental protection is far more than a mandatory requirement for sustainability; it charts a brilliant new frontier for manufacturing entities across Phu Tho. When each OCOP product carries not only financial value but also a powerful message of ecological responsibility, it cements the rock-solid foundation to build a local agricultural brand network that is green, clean, premium, and sustainably prosperous for generations to come.
