On the afternoon of January 14, the Provincial People’s Committee held a conference to announce the Adjusted Phu Tho Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. The event was attended by Mr. Tran Duy Dong – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong hands over the Approval Decision for the Adjusted Provincial Planning to the leaders of the Department of Finance – the planning formulation agency.
The revised Phu Tho Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by Decision No. 2468/QD-UBND, signed by the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong on December 31, 2025. Accordingly, the scope and boundaries of the revised plan encompass the entire Phu Tho province, with a total natural area of 9,361.38 km2.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong commended the collectives that achieved outstanding results in the preparation and revision of the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The adjusted planning focuses on five development perspectives aimed at awakening and strongly promoting the cultural values and people of the Ancestral Land. It organizes and arranges the province’s development space into: 3 Corridors – 1 Belt – 5 Driving Force Axes. By 2030, Phu Tho aims to become one of the key growth poles of the Hanoi Capital Region and the Northern Midlands and Mountains. It will serve as a hub for industry, trade, logistics, tourism, healthcare, and high-quality training, as well as a major center for cultural festivals and national and international events, characterized by high economic growth and a synchronous, modern infrastructure system.
For the 2026–2030 period, the province strives to achieve an average annual GRDP growth rate of 11–12%. The urbanization rate is targeted to reach 35–40%, and the Human Development Index (HDI) is projected at 0.78. By 2030, poverty will be basically eliminated. Furthermore, the collection and treatment of domestic solid waste will meet standard requirements, reaching 100% in urban areas and over 85% in rural areas, while the forest coverage rate will be maintained at 42.5%.
Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong speaks at the conference.
With a vision toward 2050, Phu Tho strives to become a municipality directly under the Central Government. It aims to be a modern regional hub for industry, commerce, and logistics, featuring a modern socio-economic infrastructure system and a prosperous society. The province envisions a high quality of life and happiness for its citizens, while ensuring national defense, security, and social order.
The Adjusted Phu Tho Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, identifies three developmental breakthroughs and five key tasks, along with comprehensive development schemes and synchronous implementation solutions.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Duy Dong affirmed that the conference to announce the Adjusted Phu Tho Provincial Planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, is a significant event for the province. It defines the vision and development orientation for a new era filled with high expectations and breakthroughs. The adjusted planning fully embodies new developmental thinking and a holistic, long-term, and scientific approach; it accurately reflects the potential and comparative advantages of the “new” Phu Tho province while closely following the major directives of the Party and State as well as the practical development requirements of the upcoming period.
He requested that all levels, sectors, and localities achieve a high consensus in awareness. He emphasized identifying the planning as the “North Star” and the core discipline of development. Every strategy, program, socio-economic development plan, public investment decision, and private investment attraction, as well as the management of land, construction, resources, and the environment, must strictly comply with the approved adjusted provincial planning. He demanded a resolute effort to overcome “suspended” or overlapping planning and to end “term-of-office” thinking or acting based on local, short-term interests.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong requested: The Department of Finance must research and propose an implementation plan for the provincial planning. Specialized departments and the People’s Committees of communes and wards must proactively review, adjust, and formulate new sectoral plans, construction plans, and urban-rural plans to ensure consistency, synchronization, and alignment with the provincial planning.
