Applying science and technology to socio-economic development

Recognizing the importance of science and technology for socio-economic development, in recent times, Ha Hoa district has promoted the implementation of models for applying scientific and technological advances in a centralized direction, focusing on industries, fields of production and life. Implementing Resolution No. 76-NQ/TU, dated August 2, 2022, of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the Science, Technology and Innovation Development Program in Phu Tho province until 2030, Ha Hoa district has developed and issued a plan to thoroughly grasp, propagate and implement the Resolution. After nearly 2 years of implementation, it has contributed to exploiting and promoting potential and advantages, focusing on prioritizing investment resources to develop science, technology and innovation.

Truc Mai Phu Tho Co., Ltd., Am Ha commune, applies management systems and improved tools to production, contributing to improving productivity and product quality.

In mobilizing investment resources for implementing science, technology and innovation programs and projects in the area, the district strengthens coordination with plant seed companies to organize demonstrations and the transfer of scientific applications and technology. Focus on developing, applying, and modernizing biotechnology in the processing industry to produce safe, effective and high-value products from local raw materials. So far, there have been four models of banana silk production: Zucchini processing, noodle production, and cordyceps farming, which apply new science and technology to production. The above models initially exploit the potential, take advantage of raw materials, and enhance the value of local products.

Ms. Ha Thi Thanh Xuan’s cordyceps farming facility in area 5, Huong Xa commune, generates an income of over 300 million VND/year. Ms. Xuan said: "To create quality products, our facility strictly complies with the conditions for varieties and input materials and controls the temperature, humidity, and light conditions of the growing room and breeding room. Currently, we are promoting product development associated with brand building, contributing to the development of local product brands."

The district cares for and supports businesses with production and business activities that apply science and technology, build brands, and commercialize products. Coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Consulting for Industry and Trade Development to support the application of advanced machinery and equipment, technology transfer, and scientific and technical advances for five companies in the manufacturing sector to process the wood. Along with that, focus on consolidating and improving operational efficiency and scientific and technological potential, giving priority to investment projects to develop the scientific potential and technology of organizations and businesses in the district.

Through the application of science and technology, many businesses apply modern technology standards in production, processing, branding and competitiveness. Mr. Tuong Huu Hien, Director of Truc Mai Phu Tho Co., Ltd., Am Ha commune, said: "The company specializes in producing industrial plywood for export to European, American and Japanese markets. The company is supported and consulted by the Department of Science and Technology to build and apply management systems and improvement tools according to ISO 14001:2015 standards. Thereby, we improve production efficiency, organize scientific production, monitor production stages, improve productivity and product quality."

Recently, the district has also promoted the application of information technology in management, administration and administrative reform, helping to minimize processing processes and saving time and money for businesses and people. So far, 100% of departments, divisions and specialized agencies, as well as the People’s Committees of communes and towns, have completed the construction and application of quality management systems according to national standards (TCVN ISO 9001:2015) into the operations of agencies and units.

In the coming time, the district will focus on researching the transfer and application of advanced science and technology, prioritizing investment in science and technology in key programs in the fields of agricultural, forestry, industrial and industrial production. Processing and production of construction materials and concentrated mineral exploitation; focus on industries, products with advantages and consumer markets; linking socio-economic development with environmental protection. Promote training and fostering and have appropriate policies to ensure there are enough scientific and technical staff with professional qualifications to meet set task requirements. Pay more attention to investing in funding from the State budget and mobilizing maximum resources from all economic sectors to enhance S&T potential.
