Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Quang works with Northern mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute

On March 13, Mr. Bui Van Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, pays a working visit to the Northern mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (NOMAFSI).

NOMAFSI in Phu Ho commune, Phu Tho town, now has ten research, departments. The Institute now presevers a gene of about 200 tea types, 273 fruit tree variants (13 species), 300 rice varieties and a few other forestry plants.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Hai stated at the working session.

Since 2018, the Institute has overseen the implementation of 31 scientific duties (themes, projects and consulting contracts) in Phu Tho province, accounting for 24.8% of the Institute’s activities and totaling VND79 billion.

Dr. Luu Ngoc Quyen, Director of NOMAFSI, briefed on the Institute’s research findings and the transfer of scientific and technological breakthroughs to the working delegation.

Chairman Bui Van Quang and his delegation visited Phu Thinh Tea Production and Processing Cooperative’s organic tea producing model.

After listening advice and proposals from departments and branches, as well as explanations and clarifications from the Institute’s leaders, Chairman Bui Van Quang mostly agreed with the Institute’s scientific mission orientations in Phu Tho province, as well as its recommendations and proposals to the province.

To continue promoting the Institute’s advantages and scientific research results, the Chairman requested the Institute to continue to coordinate closely with local departments and branches to specifically identify and unify the contents and coordination process, as a basis for effective organization and implementation.

The Chairman expected the Institute to pay attention to restoring, and developing commodity production areas for some of the province’s specialty and typical varieties, such as Midland purple tea buds, seedless persimmons, Black Crow sticky rice, yellow chalk banana, Hung Long lychee, PH40 lychee, etc. researching and assisting the province in developing wood trees...

Chairman Bui Van Quang paid a visit to the experimental tea processing facility and processed tea products of the Institute.

In addition to the tasks assigned by the State and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman Bui Van Quang requested the Institute strengthen ties with businesses to assist the province in developing more types of experiential and eco-tourism in the tea area. Thereby, making Phu Tho become a research, processing and preservation center for the tea sector, as well as a national tea culture center.
