In the context of increasingly deep international economic integration, developing the domestic market to stimulate domestic consumption has created more opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to develop, expand the consumption channel of goods, and give consumers the opportunity to use high-quality Vietnamese goods. In the province, the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” has gone deeper and deeper, along with the improved quality of domestic goods and the implementation of trade promotion programs, creating a pervasive influence for Vietnamese goods.
Co.opmart Viet Tri supermarket has a variety of domestically produced goods and agricultural products, with promotional programs and incentives to stimulate the consumption of Vietnamese goods.
The province’s commercial infrastructure is constantly being invested in and modernized. In addition to the system of traditional markets that have been renovated, upgraded, and newly built, other types of commerce, such as convenience stores, supermarkets, and shopping centers, have also developed, bringing new consumer experiences and opening up consumption spaces for businesses and cooperatives.
Activities to support businesses and cooperatives in the province to participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and trade connection conferences to introduce, promote, and promote trade of products to consumers; connecting the consumption of OCOP products of the province with provinces and cities across the country; building Vietnamese sales points and OCOP sales points have contributed to promoting the consumption of local products in particular and Vietnamese goods in general.
In 2023, the Department of Industry and Trade supported the construction of 6 Vietnamese sales points called Proud of Vietnamese Goods and Quintessence of Vietnamese Goods in the districts of Thanh Son, Thanh Thuy, Tan Son, Cam Khe, Yen Lap and Phu Tho town.
In 2023, Vien Hau store (Pho area, Thanh Thuy town, Thanh Thuy district) was supported to build a Vietnamese point of sale. Mr. Nguyen Khac Vien, store owner, said, “Our store was partially supported by the Department of Industry and Trade in terms of facilities and was consulted on how to arrange and manage sales scientifically according to the criteria of Vietnamese points of sale. Thereby, I see that the store is neatly and beautifully displayed, customers who come to shop can easily choose essential products, the store’s revenue increased by about 15% compared to before. To improve business efficiency and meet the needs of buyers, we import and distribute Vietnamese-branded products, ensure conditions for goods circulating on the market according to the provisions of law and prioritize products recognized as high-quality Vietnamese goods”.
Along with creating a development space, departments, branches and localities have many forms of support to improve the competitiveness of enterprises and products, such as: supporting enterprises, cooperatives and business households in building product brands, codes and barcodes; implementing training; guiding digital skills; ways to introduce and promote products; customer data management software and promoting online sales on commercial sites and e-commerce trading floors. Thereby, helping enterprises affirm their brands, improve quality and designs, increase competitiveness in the domestic market and towards export.
In 2023 alone, the Department of Industry and Trade supported the construction and registration of trademark protection for 3 products and the application of electronic stamps and QR codes for 11 units with a quantity of 140,000 stamps. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development supports 180,000 OCOP product management stamps, 90,000 product labels, 20,000 product packaging sets, helping to upgrade and standardize OCOP products.
Supermarkets, distribution centers, and retail stores in the province also actively implement many activities to stimulate demand for diverse Vietnamese goods.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hien, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Viet Tri Supermarket, said: "The supermarket has over 10,000 items for sale, including products in the fresh and processed food, household appliances, clothing, cosmetics, etc. industries, of which Vietnamese goods account for about 90%. Every year, the supermarket implements many major programs and events with deep promotional programs to stimulate consumption of Vietnamese goods and increase sales."
The programs have contributed to changing the awareness and behavior of consumers to prioritize using Vietnamese goods, contributing to promoting the strong development of the domestic market, ensuring the balance of supply and demand of essential goods, contributing to stabilizing the prices of goods circulating in the market.
To create a spread for Vietnamese goods, enterprises, production and business establishments also need to proactively diversify products with competitive prices, create links to get the most reasonable costs at all stages to help products reach domestic consumers quickly and effectively, closely follow market developments to have specific production plans, balancing appropriate output for each item.
