Experiencing the tranditional Tet atmosphere

To provide students with more opportunities to experience the nation’s traditional Tet, many schools in the province have organized meaningful activities that not only educate students about the traditional beauty and culture of the Tet holiday of Vietnamese national tradition but are also appropriate for the new general education program.

Binh Phu Secondary School in Phu Ninh district hosted an experiential educational activity with the subject “My hometown’s Tet” to celebrate the arrival of Spring.The school’s Tet area has been tastefully adorned by instructors and students, imbuing it with the Tet countryside vibe, which is a “Country Fair”.

The “Country Fair” is highly active, rustic, and inviting, with booths covering various issues such as Vietnamese agricultural goods, gastronomy, learning, entertainment, and all types of commodities to serve everyday living collected locally, such as eggs, rice, vegetables, tubers, and chung cake. Each booth has its own space to exhibit STEM items created by youngsters.

Teacher Vu Duy Ky - Principal of the school said: "This activity gives students practical experiences in social life, through which they educate students to have a sense of responsibility towards themselves and their families, society, towards the goal of the 2018 General Education Program, which is to educate comprehensive knowledge and abilities for students, thereby helping students to be more confident and bold in communication and learn more skills practical living."

Nguyen Hoang Anh, a student in class 6E at Binh Phu Secondary School, stated: "I am extremely delighted to participate in cooking chung cake with my friends. Wrapping chung cake with my own hands provided a wonderful experience. We don’t just wrap cakes; we also sell food booths."

Excitement and passion were recorded during the experience activity “Experience with you - Full of Tet joy” for Hermann Gmeiner Viet Tri High School’s middle and primary pupils. Mr. Nguyen Son, the school’s principal, stated: "This is a useful playground for students." Folk games are more than just games; they also reflect the distinctive culture of the Vietnamese people. Students may exercise motor skills, reasoning, and creativity by playing games like stilt walking, mandarin umbrellas, jumping rope, and shuttlecock.

In recent years, in addition to teaching theory, schools in the province have arranged a variety of extracurricular educational events focused on traditional culture and national Tet. Many schools from preschool to high school in the province have organized programs for students to experience traditional Tet in many different forms and names such as: “My hometown’s Tet”, “Tet folk”, “Old Tet”... with diverse and rich activities, recreating the space, customs, and atmosphere of traditional Tet such as: wrapping chung cake, writing calligraphy couplets, tray display competition five fruits, making paper apricot and peach blossoms, organizing folk games...

Not only do schools and units educate students about traditional Lunar New Year rituals and customs, but they also organize meaningful volunteer programs, such as visiting and giving gifts to units in remote areas, as well as giving Tet gifts to poor and disadvantaged students, all with the goal of bringing the community a full and warm Tet. As a result, the excellent traditional morals of the nation “Love others as you love yourself” is consistently promoted and educated pupils, especially around Tet and Spring.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Principal of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School in Thanh Son district, stated that appreciating and being proud of traditional culture, knowing how to share and love people... is a good message so beautiful that the school’s Spring Festival has a pervasive influence and receives the support of many parents. The school provided 40 presents to pupils in challenging circumstances.

A new Spring is on its way, and schools in the province are energetically and generously implementing many forms and substance of teaching on the theme of Vietnamese Tet, providing students with additional chances for understanding, learning, and finding, therefore intentionally maintaining and better promoting the priceless qualities of the nation’s traditional Tet, while also assisting schools in carrying out experiential activities in the 2018 General Education Program.
