Impressions of the 2026 “Square Star Colors” Gameshow

On the evening of September 29, at Hung Vuong Square (Viet Tri ward), the filming of the 2026 “Square Star Colors” Gameshow within the Military Region 2 armed forces took place.

The program was co-organized and produced by the Department of Self-Defense Militia (General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army), the Military Broadcasting and Television Center, and Military Region 2. It will be broadcast on Vietnam National Defense TV, provincial newspaper, radio, and television channels, as well as digital platforms.

Attending the program were Comrades: Lieutenant General Pham Duc Duyen — Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 2; Nguyen Manh Son — Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Khac Hieu — Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; alongside leaders from Military Region 2, the Department of Self-Defense Militia (General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army), and the Department of Propaganda and Training (General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army).

Also present were representatives of leadership from the People’s Committees of Tuyen Quang, Son La, and Lao Cai provinces; the Gameshow Organizing Committee of Phu Tho province; alongside nearly 2,000 spectators comprising officers, self-defense militia soldiers, Military Region 2 armed forces, students, and local residents.

Participating in the 2026 “Square Star Colors” Gameshow recording were 4 teams: “Fansipan Sea of Clouds” (Lao Cai province), “Tay Tien” (Son La province), “Tan Trao Sacred Fire” (Tuyen Quang province), and “Lac Hong” (Phu Tho province).

The teams competed across 4 rounds: Greetings, Wise Square Star, Strong Square Star, and Talented Square Star, combined with interactive sessions with the audience.

In the “Greetings” round, through theatrical staging, the teams introduced the unique features of their local areas and units, while expressing love and pride for the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army, the self-defense militia forces, and their native homelands.

The “Wise Square Star” round focused on legal knowledge regarding self-defense militia, national defense, military affairs, and related legal provisions. Through questions and practical scenarios, teams demonstrated deep understanding and fast, accurate problem-solving capabilities, thereby contributing to solidifying legal knowledge and raising awareness and responsibility in performing self-defense militia duties.

In the “Strong Square Star” round, teams underwent physical activities requiring agility, strength, close coordination, dexterity, and teamwork spirit.

Meanwhile, the “Talented Square Star” round delivered diverse theatrical performances showcasing talents in culture, arts, physical education, and sports, while vividly reflecting training, combat readiness, and grassroots operations of the self-defense militia forces.

Through the rounds, the image of “Square Star” soldiers was vividly and comprehensively portrayed.

The program attracted a large number of cadres, soldiers, and citizens to watch and cheer. The competition rounds were lively and engaging, fostering a cohesive and joyful atmosphere that left a lasting impression of self-defense militia forces who are close to the people, rooted in the grassroots, and always ready to accept and complete assigned duties.

The 2026 “Square Star Colors” Gameshow serves as a practical activity celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Military Region 2 Armed Forces (October 19, 1946 – October 19, 2026) toward receiving the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.

Thereby, it contributes to propagating, disseminating, and educating laws on self-defense militia, national defense, and military affairs; elevating awareness and responsibility among cadres, soldiers, and the public toward building an all-people national defense and strong armed forces to meet requirements in the new situation.
