Opening ceremony of the 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival, 2024 - Region I

On May 10, the Ministry of Education and Training coordinated with the People’s Committee of Phu Tho province to organize the Opening Ceremony of the 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival, 2024 - Region I (National Health Festival - Region I). Attending the opening ceremony was Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Head of the Steering Committee of the 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Dai Dung respectfully gave the best greetings and wishes to the leaders, delegates, distinguished guests, teachers, referees, coaches and students from 13 Northern Midlands and Mountains provinces participating in the school youth sports festival. To prepare for the national Phu Dong Health Festival - Region I, Phu Tho province has gathered all conditions and completed the preparation work as planned. In order for the Phu Dong Health Festival to take place successfully and effectively, the Steering Committee recommends that athletes compete with a pure sports spirit, solidarity, honesty, and determination to get the highest achievements. The referee manages the matches according to the rules, ensuring objectivity and fairness so that the Sports Festival can truly be a festival to demonstrate the strength of the school sports movement.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized: Phu Dong Health Festival is a school sports festival for students, aiming to achieve the goal of comprehensive education on “Virtue - Intelligence - Body - Beauty”, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of students and repelling social evils in schools. At the same time, create opportunities for students to demonstrate their sports talents and skills. The Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciates the close leadership and direction of the Party Committee, local governments, all levels, sectors, schools, families and society in coordinating and effectively implementing physical education and school sports activities. In particular, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, departments, branches, unions and people of Phu Tho province have actively prepared, created all favorable conditions, and supported the National Phu Dong Health Festival - Region I to be successful. He requested the Organizing Committee of the National Phu Dong Health Festival - Region I to deploy the festival activities scientifically, absolutely safely and economically; The referees run the match according to the law and the rules, ensuring fairness, impartiality and accuracy; create the most favorable conditions for student athletes to express their talents and compete with the spirit of solidarity and honesty.

The 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival in 2024 is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 is organized in 5 areas: Region I in Phu Tho province, Region II in Thai Nguyen province, Region III in Quang Nam province, Region IV in Dak Lak province, Region V in Ben Tre province. Phase 2 is held in Hai Phong city.

The 10th National Phu Dong Health Festival, 2024 - Region I is held in Phu Tho province from May 10-17 with the participation of 2,017 athletes from 13 provinces including: Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Son La, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Lai Chau. Athletes participate in 11 sports: Football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, badminton, stick pushing, tug of war, aerobics, shuttlecock, athletics, and swimming. Phu Tho delegation has 388 athletes participating in all 11 sports.
