On the morning of October 4, at the Hung Vuong Museum in Viet Tri City, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Dak Lak Province to organize the opening of the thematic exhibition “Central Highlands Gongs: Connecting Heritage Areas” to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 1945-November 23, 2024).
Delegates cut the ribbon to open the thematic exhibition “Central Highlands Gongs: Connecting Heritage Areas”.
The thematic exhibition takes place from October 4 to November 30 with the following contents: introducing images of the Central Highlands gong music past and present; displaying 3 groups of artifacts, including folk musical instruments, daily artifacts, costumes, and jewelry of typical ethnic minorities in Dak Lak province; screening documentary films about the heritage of Dak Lak; organizing “History lessons” to educate students on the cultural heritage of the Central Highlands gongs.
Delegates visited the exhibition space of artifacts of typical ethnic minorities in Dak Lak province.
Through the program, the aim is to introduce to the people of the Ancestral Land the cultural values and unique features of the Central Highlands gongs, which have been recognized by UNESCO as “Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” (2005), “Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” (2008); raise people’s awareness of the role of gong music in community life; promote the responsibility of the community in preserving, protecting and promoting the cultural values of the Central Highlands gongs; strengthen solidarity, exchange, study and exchange of experiences in exhibition work between museums; create connections between cultural heritage regions, enriching the diversity of Vietnamese cultural identity.
