After more than 10 days of intense competition, the Phu Tho Pencak Silat Team claimed a total of nine medals at the 2025 National Youth Pencak Silat Championship, earning second place in the 17–20 age group.
The Organizing Committee officially awarded the second-place flag in the 17–20 age group to the Phu Tho delegation.
This year’s championship was held at the Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Center from June 4–15, drawing 527 athletes from 29 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide. Phu Tho’s team, consisting of 12 athletes, delivered a strong performance with nine medals—four of them gold.
The gold medalists included Nguyen Thanh Luong (51 kg category, boys aged 12–13), Nguyen Duc Hau (45 kg category, men), Nguyen Chinh Nghia (60 kg category, men), and Dinh Tien Cuu (80 kg category, men aged 17–20).
Athlete Dinh Tien Cuu of Phu Tho Pencak Silat (1st place) stands on the podium to receive the gold medal in the men’s 80 kg category, aged 17–20.
In addition, the team secured three silver medals and two bronze medals. The silver medalists were Nguyen Duc Trung (47 kg, boys aged 14–16), Phan Thu Hien (70 kg, women), and Tran Tien Phat (85 kg, men aged 17–20). Bronze medals went to Ha Thu Huyen (33 kg, girls aged 12–13) and Nguyen Thi Huong (55 kg, women aged 17–20).
This impressive result marks a proud achievement for Phu Tho’s Pencak Silat program—also known as Pencak Silat Dat To—reflecting the department’s consistent, methodical, and effective investment in youth training and coaching. It lays a solid foundation for local athletes to strive for even higher honors in future national and international competitions.
