On March 31, the Hung Kings Museum in Viet Tri City hosted a pilot screening of The Hung Kings’ Era, a historical film produced in full HD with 3D effects. The event was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to enhance visitors' experience and understanding of the Hung Kings’ legacy.
Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Huy Ngoc, attended and delivered remarks at the event.
For years, Phu Tho province has remained committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Ancestral Land, particularly the two UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage elements: the Worship of the Hung Kings and Phu Tho Xoan Singing. To further this mission, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism developed a historical film about the Hung Kings’ era, with approval from the Provincial People’s Committee. The project aims to educate the public and enhance engagement with Vietnam’s early history.
The Hung Kings’ Era is a historical film inspired by legends of the Hung Kings, brought to life through full HD animation and advanced 3D effects. The 22-minute film is divided into four chapters, tracing the origins of Vietnam’s first rulers and their role in founding, building, and defending the nation.
During the production process, a panel of experienced experts conducted multiple review sessions, refining the script and content to ensure historical accuracy and narrative coherence. After extensive revisions, the film was finalized and premiered at the Hung Kings Museum as part of the Hung Kings’ Commemoration and the Cultural-Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in 2025.
Speaking at the screening, Vice Chairman Nguyen Huy Ngoc commended the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for its initiative in producing this significant historical documentary. He expressed gratitude to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, the advisory experts on the appraisal council, and the film’s production team for their dedication and collaboration in bringing this project to fruition.
He emphasized that the Hung Kings’ Era serves as an important addition to the commemorative activities honoring the Hung Kings and enriching the Cultural-Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land. “This film provides an engaging and accessible way for audiences to learn about Vietnam’s origins and history,” he noted. “It also plays a crucial role in raising public awareness about preserving and promoting our nation’s rich cultural heritage, including the Worship of the Hung Kings and Phu Tho Xoan Singing.”
To maximize the film’s reach, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will collaborate with local media outlets to distribute it widely on digital platforms. The film will also undergo further refinement based on expert feedback and public reception, ensuring it meets the highest standards of historical and educational value.
With its compelling storytelling and advanced visual techniques, The Hung Kings’ Era is set to become a valuable resource in preserving and promoting Vietnam’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
