Resolutely Acquiring Land to Implement the Southeast New Urban Area Project in Viet Tri Ward

On September 21, the People’s Committee of Viet Tri ward held a press conference to provide information regarding the plan to enforce mandatory inventory and land tallying when the State acquires land to implement the Southeast New Urban Area Project in Viet Tri ward, Phu Tho province.

The project carries a total acquired land and land-use purpose conversion area of over 63 hectares, affecting approximately 700 households. Within Viet Tri ward alone, the area subject to land acquisition and purpose conversion exceeds 44.8 hectares, of which over 31.4 hectares require compensation.

To date, functional authorities have approved compensation plans for over 27 hectares, issued land acquisition decisions for over 29.6 hectares, and disbursed compensation payments for more than 26 hectares.

However, as of the morning of September 21, several households have yet to comply with the land tallying and inventory process. Prior to this, the Viet Tri Ward People’s Committee established a Propaganda and Mobilization Team, organizing 3 rounds of campaign efforts and direct dialogues with the households, but consensus has not yet been achieved.

At the conference, the Viet Tri Ward People’s Committee provided information regarding the legal basis, sequences, procedures, and implementation plans for organizing mandatory inventory enforcement. According to the plan, enforcement is scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM on September 23, 2026, across the land parcels within the project’s land acquisition scope.

The Viet Tri Ward People’s Committee requested that the enforcement process strictly ensure the correct subjects, scope, content, and procedures in compliance with legal regulations; while simultaneously guaranteeing security, order, and safety for local residents and task execution forces.

The land tallying and inventory serve as the baseline for formulating compensation and support schemes according to regulations, serving site clearance and project implementation.

According to the Viet Tri Ward People’s Committee, prior to the scheduled mandatory inventory enforcement time, local authorities will continue propaganda and campaign efforts with the households. In the event that households reach consensus, the mandatory inventory enforcement will not be executed.
