At the 2025 Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad recently held in Tallinn, Estonia, the Vietnamese student delegation achieved outstanding results, securing 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal. Phan Tuan Dung, a physics student at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, earned the Silver Medal.
Before the exam, teachers at Hung Vuong Gifted High School encouraged Phan Tuan Dung with their support.
The Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad (NBPhO) is a prestigious competition for students from the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as several guest countries worldwide, with around 100 participants.
Held annually in late April at Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia, the event is organized by Professor Jaan Kalda of TalTech University, who is also the President of the European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO).
Phan Tuan Dung, an 11th-grade Physics student at Hung Vuong Gifted High School, won the Silver Medal at the 2025 Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad.
The 23rd Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad, which took place from April 25 to 27, welcomed 104 contestants from 4 Nordic countries—Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Latvia—and 6 guest countries: Brazil, Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Lithuania, and Vietnam.
A unique feature of this competition is that, on both days of the exam, contestants are required to complete both theory and practical components. While this makes exam preparation and grading challenging, it provides a rewarding experience for the participants. The prize distribution is highly competitive, adhering to the rigorous standards of the International Physics Olympiad.
