The vibrant colors of Pa Co Market, located in Pa Co Commune, are woven together from the radiant beauty of brocade fabric, the bright smiles of the Mong ethnic people, and the lively atmosphere of a traditional market that carries the true breath of the mountainous region.

Mong women beside brocade stalls, diligently spinning flax fibers, are familiar images seen every market day in Pa Co.
Pa Co Market takes place regularly every Sunday. As a long-standing habit, local people from nearby hamlets gather early in the morning when the mist still blankets the mountains. Everyone comes eagerly to the market, bringing along their freshest and finest products to exchange and introduce to others.

Many stalls display fabric, costumes, and brocade products of various kinds...
According to our observation, the goods brought for exchange and display at the market this season are extremely diverse, carrying the distinctive traits of the highland region. It is easy to see that most stalls exhibit fabrics, skirts, scarves, and brocade hats of different designs. Many common and practical items meeting local needs are also sold, such as flashlights, dó paper, and lighters. The agricultural product area—featuring vegetables, tubers, fruits, Mong chicken, and local pigs—is arranged outside the market, making it convenient for visitors to stop by.

...all together create a dazzling brocade space that fascinates tourists.
During his journey to explore Pa Co tourism, Mr. Tom Hiddleston, a tourist from the United Kingdom, expressed great delight when experiencing the market day.

Many foreign tourist groups visit Pa Co Market on Sundays to explore and experience the local culture.
Since there is only one market session each week, every Sunday feels as bustling and joyful as a festival or a Tet market in the lowlands. The market offers everything from agricultural products, livestock, fabrics, brocade, farming tools to household goods, electronics, and cosmetics. According to Phang A Pao, a tourism business owner in Cha Day Hamlet, Pa Co Commune, Pa Co Market is held periodically and is one of the most vibrant Mong markets in the Northwestern region. The market is not only a place for exchanging goods but also a reflection of a shared life among ethnic communities in the mountains — a destination for cultural exchange and barter, a concept that seems almost nonexistent in urban life.

Goods laid out directly on concrete floors bring visitors an interesting experience of traditional market culture.
One of the things that brings tourists a sense of closeness and authenticity when visiting the market is the simplicity of the stalls — just small wooden tables or stands, and sometimes goods displayed directly on nylon sheets spread over the concrete ground. The sound of bargaining mixed with cheerful laughter fills the air, making the market space come alive with energy.

Every corner of Pa Co Market carries the breath of highland life.
Before administrative restructuring, Pa Co was home to a concentrated community of about 8,000 Mong people. Along with their customs, language, and traditional attire, the market has become a cultural symbol of the region. The village elders and respected figures of this highland commune shared that Pa Co Market has existed and been maintained for a very long time. Nestled in the heart of the Mong community, the market is a miniature reflection of highland life—simple and rustic, yet embodying the diligence and industrious spirit of the people. Especially today, when many traditional markets are increasingly influenced by commercialization, Pa Co Market remains one of the rare places that still preserves its ethnic identity and the unique charm of traditional highland markets.
