Chairman Tran Duy Dong Reviews Preparations for 2026 Hung Kings Temple Festival

Chairman Tran Duy Dong delivers his concluding remarks at the conference.

The 2026 Hung Kings“Death Anniversary - Hung Kings” Temple Festival and Ancestral Land Culture-Tourism Week will be organized at the provincial level from April 17 to 26, 2026 (corresponding to the 1st to 10th day of the third lunar month). The event will be centered at the Hung Kings' Temple Historical Relic Site and extended to various communes and wards across the province. The festival consists of two primary components: The Ceremonies and The Festivities, with funding sourced from the provincial budget, socialization efforts, and other legal sources.

Specifically, the ceremonial part will feature solemn rituals, starting with incense offerings by local communes from April 7 to 21. This will be followed by the Death Anniversary of Father Lac Long Quan and incense offerings to Mother Au Co on April 22, and Palanquin Processions by communes within the relic area on April 23. The highlight will be the main Hung Kings' Death Anniversary Ceremony and flower offering at the relief “Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Pioneer Division” on April 26.

In tandem with the rituals, the festivities will offer a vibrant array of cultural, artistic, and sporting activities. Highlights include the Opening Art Program for the 2026 Culture-Tourism Week, Cultural Camps, and a Street Folk Culture Festival. Traditional contests such as Banh Chung and Banh Giay making will be held alongside a mass art festival, an international art exhibition, and the Ancestral Land Book Fair. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the Hung Vuong Cup National Volleyball Championship and the provincial open boat racing tournament. The event will also feature the Hung Vuong Trade Fair, the Phu Tho 2026 Cultural Diplomacy Exchange, and spectacular high-altitude fireworks displays to conclude the celebrations.

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism reported that it has finalized the master plan, established the Organizing Committee, and proposed the formation of a Press Center to manage international and domestic media. Concurrently, relevant departments are actively implementing urban renovation, tourism service management, and comprehensive security plans to ensure the best possible experience for visitors.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman Tran Duy Dong emphasized that the 2026 Festival is a major political and cultural event of national significance, particularly as the province operates under a new administrative model. He noted that the event serves not only to honor the national identity and the legacy of the Hung Kings but also to promote Phu Tho’s tourism and economic growth.

The Chairman issued specific directives, requiring the Chairmen of participating communal People’s Committees to take full responsibility for their respective clusters. He stressed that there must be zero errors during the implementation process. The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism was tasked with overseeing decoration, communication, and social media monitoring to handle any violations. Meanwhile, the Hung Kings' Temple Historical Relic Site must urgently finalize ceremonial scripts and renovate the landscape. Finally, the Provincial Office was directed to coordinate high-level logistics to welcome Party and State leaders and international delegates with the utmost professionalism.

The Chairman also approved the policy for the socialization of several festive activities and scheduled an upcoming press conference to provide official information.
